SENIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS will gather next Sunday evening at 5:30 PM for supper and then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

STUDENTS ATTENDING TRINITY this coming fall are reminded to submit their application form for the Ladies Aid scholarship to the church office by next Sunday, July 15.  These forms were mailed out in early June.

CHURCH PICNIC:  Everyone is invited to our 3^rd annual church picnic to be held on Sunday, August 5, after worship.  Bring your most comfortable lawn chair and come out and enjoy lunch and fun activities with your church family!

A HOG ROAST/AUCTION will be held on Sunday afternoon, July 29, from 2:00-6:00 PM at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds Community Building, with all proceeds going to Derek & Kristie Wessel.  Dessert donations are being sought.  If you would be able to donate a dessert, please contact Tracey Engelau (812-498-4025), Shelly Burns (812-374-8240), or Jenni Acton (812-343-8988).

LWML MISSION MOMENTS:  154 delegates awarded $120,000 in mission grants at the LWML convention in June.  Lutheran Military Veterans and Families Ministries received $12,000. Hundreds of thousands of veterans and their families from wars both past and most recent are struggling with spiritual questions, mental, emotional and physical health issues.  The rate of suicide, substance abuse, domestic violence and child abuse has increased among veterans and their families.  The LMVFM offers specialized ministry to meet these unique needs of military veterans and their families through the love of Jesus.  Government agencies charged with providing care to veterans and their families are restricted from treating or addressing the spiritual wounds of war.  The care and services offered to veterans and their families cover only those who meet a set of restrictive guidelines, thus leaving a large number of veterans without any care, services or benefits.  LMVFM assists all who have served our country by offering Christ’s care and assistance to those who have not only suffered physical, emotional, physical and relational wounds, but the spiritual wounds which separate man from God.  LMVFM seeks to support, educate, and equip clergy, Stephen ministers, congregations and counselors with knowledge and tools they will need to effectively work with veterans and their families, thus enabling them to demonstrate Christ’s love and show His compassion to those who have bravely served their country.

LCH “NEEDS YOU” for our Lutheran Community Home quarterly “DINING ROOM BONUS BUCK SALE”, on Friday, July 13 @ 2:00pm.   This is like a big yard sale for our residents to buy things with their “Bonus Bucks”.  Bonus Bucks are earned by attending group activities.  We are reaching out to our churches to help with our sale Items needed:  baked goods, cookies and other snacks, candy (regular or sugar free) or anything you would like to donate for the sale. (shampoo, lotion-tissues, knick-knacks, jewelry, clothing, etc)  Please bring your donations to the Activity Room any time between now and the morning of the sale.  Contact the Activity Department if you need more details!   Susie Grelle, 812-522-5927, ext. 136.  THANK YOU!

Father, hold our sister Clara close to you through her surgery today! Bless the doctors and nurses with wisdom and skill as they care for her, and grant her a speedy recovery according to Your gracious will. Keep her safe in Your grace, Father, in the name of Jesus, Amen.

Tim Hoene had another heart attack tonight.

He had a heart cath which went well (they did the ballooning procedure).

He’ll be in the hospital for a few days. Please pray for him as he recovers!

June 3 Weekly News

MANY THANKS TO all who helped with last week’s VBS and to those who donated cookies for today’s fellowship.

GOD’S BLESSINGS TO Jeff & Jolisa Vickous as they were confirmed last Thursday evening and their daughter, Addison, as she was baptized.  Addison will be a first grader in our school this fall.  Welcome to our White Creek Family!

BOARD OF EDUCATION members are reminded of their meeting next Sunday, June 10, after worship.

OPEN HOUSE:  Camp Lakeview will be having its annual open house today.  The opening worship service begins at 11 AM with Pastor Cook being the guest speaker.  A free picnic lunch will be served after the service followed by afternoon activities of canoeing, kayaking horseback riding, zip-lining, swimming, golf, and more.  Everyone invited.

BRICK ORDERS will be taken anytime from now through Labor Day.  Cost is $100 per brick.  Contact Ernie & Donna Dettmer, Larry & Janice Claycamp, or Lloyd & Jean Meyer.  Bricks will be ordered after Labor Day, with placement sometime in October.

KRISTIE’S KREW, (Relay for Life team) will be having a used Vera Bradley sale at the Relay for Life event next Saturday, June 9.  If you have gently used Vera Bradley items that you would like to donate to this sale, please bring to the church office or contact Tracey Engelau (812-498-4025) or Shelly Burns (374-8240) sometime before this coming Saturday.

T-SHIRTS in support of Kristie Wessel’s Relay for Life team, Kristie’s Krew, are available for pre-order.  Pictures of the t-shirt design and a sign-up sheet for ordering are posted on the bulletin board in the front hall of school.  All proceeds will go to the American Cancer Society.

ST. PAUL, CLIFTY, will begin their Shorties Day Camp this Thursday, June 7, from 1:00-3:00 PM.  Activities will include Bible stories, snacks, and athletic activity fun.  Registration forms are available in our narthex.  Persons may call the St. Paul office (376-6504) for more information.

Bob Sims
Bob is in surgery today, due to a major infection in his knee (after his recent knee replacement surgery).  The doctors are taking his new knee OUT, putting in a spacer, and giving him antibiotics to fight the infection. When that is gone, they will put the new knee in again.

Kristie Wessel
Kristie has received her stem cell treatment. She is still in the hospital and in some pain. Please pray for her as her body fights the cancer.

 Bone Marrow Registry (cheek swabs), Indiana State Police Child Identification Kits, Bone Density Test, Oral Cancer Screening, Blood Pressure check, etc.

I will working at the bone marrow donor booth doing cheek swabs to help find matches for people who are in need of transplants. This also includes people like, Kristie, who need stem cell transplants. Rejoicing with Kristie Wessel that she has found a match! Hopefully, we can help someone else whose life depends on it! One more opportunity to help fight cancer:

This is a special year at Relay. 

Jackson County has been chosen to serve as a CPS3 event site. CPS3 is a Cancer Prevention Study that will help in researching cancer and look for medicines and hopefully a CURE! Wouldn't that be awesome.

Cancer Prevention Study-3: Friday, May 18th at Relay For Life 5:30-9:30pm.- This year, you can join the movement to help create a world with less cancer and more birthdays by enrolling in the American Cancer Society’s research study called the Cancer Prevention Study-3 (CPS-3). The study is open to anyone who is willing to commit to the study long term, is betweenthe ages of 30 and 65, and has never been diagnosed with cancer (not including basal or squamous cell skin cancer).

Three main things to be able to be a part of this event:  You must be between the ages of 30-65--- Never had cancer other than skin(basal cell & squamous)--Willing to make a long term commitment. (Filling out a survey every 2-3 years for the next 20-30 years). 

The event begins at 5:30 and end at 9:30.  You will be asked to fill out a short survey, a waist measurement taken, and a small amount of blood drawn.  This process should take about 30 minutes. 

You may then join the fun at the Relay if you wish to take part.  If you just want to be involved in the CPS3 event then you are free to go after your blood draw.

Think of our children and grandchildren.  It would be well worth our time to be involved in this study if it helped them never to hear the word CANCER.  You can be a part of making a difference by joining in the event.
