"Awake, O sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you!"
In the epistle this week, we hear the invitation to leave darkness, and come into the light of Christ.
Our enemy often tricks us in this way- tempting us to sin in secret as if it would be something pleasant for us, and then using that very sin to drive us further into darkness for fear our deeds will be exposed. When we consider the sins that still cling to us, we all want to hide and pretend it is not so.
Yet we are invited to be HONEST to God, to ourselves, to others. We are invited to bring our sins and ourselves into the light, even though it may be awkward and unpleasant. Because we have seen the love Jesus has poured out for us on the cross, we no longer need to fear the light. We can freely bring our sins into the Light of His Word, and there in His grace, find safety.
