October 5 Weekly News


WE REJOICE WITH James & Michele Rockhill as they bring their son, ABNER LEE, to be baptized this morning.  Abner's sponsors are Carissa Meyer and Pastor Cook.  God's blessings to you, Abner!

 

A BAKE SALE will be held after church TODAY, sponsored by Bailey Newkirk as part of her Senior Project, "Pillows For Peds."  Proceeds will be used to purchase materials to make  pillows which will be given to children at Columbus Regional Hospital.  Thanks to everyone for their support!

 

THE QUARTERLY VOTERS' MEETING will be THIS EVENING at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Room.  All confirmed members of our congregation, 18 years and older, are encouraged to attend.

 

PERSONS ARE REMINDED that their 2014 pledge to our "Arise and Build" building program is due by October 31.  Pledge envelopes are available in the narthex.

 

INFORMATION ABOUT the schedule of picture-taking for our upcoming church directory was passed out last Sunday and is available again today from Beth Burbrink.  Please see her after church if you have not yet received this info.

 

THE LUTHERAN WITNESS:  Persons who would like to order/renew their subscription to The Lutheran Witness may contact Becky in the church office.  Cost for the year subscription is $18.  Checks may be made payable to our church.  Order deadline is Sunday, October 19.

 

DONATIONS ARE NEEDED for the upcoming Camp Lakeview 10th Annual Dinner Auction on November 22.  If you have new items, collectables, antiques, goods or services, handicraft items, monetary donations, or even a week at your time-share that you would like to donate to the auction, please contact Dave Vandercar at 812-498-4742.  All donations are tax-deductible, and all proceeds benefit the work of God at Lakeview Ministries.

 

THE CHURCH OFFICE HOURS will be flexible these next 2 weeks during fall break.  Please call before you come to make sure someone is in.

 

DON VOELKER is now living at the Lutheran Home assisted living apartments.  His new address is Donald Voelker, 1503 S. Walnut St., Apt. 508, Seymour, IN  47274.

 

TRINITY OPEN HOUSE:  Trinity Lutheran High School invites students and their families to an open house next Sunday,  October 12, from 2:00-4:00 PM.  Interested eighth grade students will receive a $75 voucher that helps cover registration costs at Trinity for the 2015-2016 school year.  Please enter through the Commons.

 

MY BEST FOR YOU:  The Pregnancy Care Center is teaming with St. Paul, Clifty, to offer 5th-8th grade students and their parents/adult mentors an opportunity to equip themselves with tools to guard their minds, hearts, and bodies based on God’s unchanging truths.  My Best For You is an informative and fun multi-media workshop designed for adults and students to explore together the Biblical view of human sexuality and behavior.            A parent orientation will be held on Friday, October 24, at 6:30 PM, followed by the workshop for adults and children on Saturday, October 25, from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. A SOUP & SANDWICH SUPPER AND BAKE SALE will be held THIS EVENING from 4:00-7:00 PM at St. John's, Sauers, sponsored by their Men's Club.  Everyone invited.

 

ST. PETER, WAYMANSVILLE, Adult Fellowship will be sponsoring their annual Fish Fry on Sunday, October 19, from 4:00-7:00 PM.  Thrivent Financial for Lutherans will provide supplemental funds.  Everyone invited.
