CONGREGATIONAL HISTORY: In 1844, at the site of the present parsonage,
a log house was built, and worship was conducted. In 1847, a 28 by 38 foot log church was
erected. This was furnished with altar
and pulpit and stood near the location of what was known as "the old
school." Candidate Fick preached at
the cornerstone laying of this building.
LOOKING FOR CONFIRMATION PICTURES: The class of 1932 is still needed and also
the classes of 2001, 2002, 2006, 2009, 1990, 1993, 1980, 1970, 1971, 1972,
1976, 1979, 1960, 1968, 1969, 1951, 1958, 1940, 1938, 1937, 1935, 1933, 1932,
1931, 1926, 1923, 1921, and 1920. The
original picture is needed to make a good copy, and all pictures from the
1970s that have been turned in have problems with the colors changing, so those
pictures taken by a professional photographer are also needed. If you prefer not to leave your picture(s),
Janeen Blomenberg will be available in the church office after church next
Sunday to scan your original picture so you can take it home again.
RE-ENACTMENT SUNDAY: On Sunday, April 26, the 175th Anniversary
Committee will be hosting a re-enactment church service. In preparation, we would like to borrow any
period clothing which would be worn at this service. Needed are clothes for the time periods of
the 1860s, 1900s, 1940s, and 1960s. If
you can help out with any clothes, or if you are interested in having a role in
the re-enactment, please notify Phil Burbrink at 812-334-9946 or
philburbrink@gmail.com.
