Wednesday study in November


"Getting to know and love your Lutheran Hymnal"

A Wednesday study from 330-5 at the (kid friendly) parsonage, beginning Nov 5.

We will be making use of the rich treasure we have in our hymnal to aid us in personal daily devotion, and to gain a deeper understanding of the Divine Service.

October 12 Weekly News


MANY THANKS TO Seminarian Rockhill for leading our worship this morning while Pastor Cook is on vacation.  Vicar Matt Jung will be leading the Wednesday evening worship this week.

SENIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS will meet at 5:30 PM next Sunday evening, October 19, at the Waymansville Fish Fry and then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

THE FALL LUNCHEON AND BAKE SALE, hosted by the Auxiliary of CrossLife Ministries, will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall this Friday, October 17, from 10:00 AM-1:00 PM.  Chicken casserole, green beans, salads, roll, desserts, and drinks will be served.  Free-will donations will be accepted, and persons may dine in or carry out.  "Helping Hands" donation boxes will be located on the tables to help support Anchor House.  Everyone invited.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS for the Orphan Grain Train lunch and program to be held here at White Creek after worship on Sunday, November 9.  Our congregation is partnering with the congregations of Faith, St. Paul's, Jonesville, and St. Peter, Waymansville, to sponsor this event to help support the work of our local Orphan Grain Train branch.  Watch the weekly news bulletin for more information.

October 5 Weekly News

A BAKE SALE will be held after church TODAY, sponsored by Bailey Newkirk as part of her Senior Project, "Pillows For Peds."  Proceeds will be used to purchase materials to make  pillows which will be given to children at Columbus Regional Hospital.  Thanks to everyone for their support!

 

THE QUARTERLY VOTERS' MEETING will be THIS EVENING at 7:00 PM in the Fellowship Room.  All confirmed members of our congregation, 18 years and older, are encouraged to attend.

MY BEST FOR YOU:  The Pregnancy Care Center is teaming with St. Paul, Clifty, to offer 5th-8th grade students and their parents/adult mentors an opportunity to equip themselves with tools to guard their minds, hearts, and bodies based on God’s unchanging truths.  My Best For You is an informative and fun multi-media workshop designed for adults and students to explore together the Biblical view of human sexuality and behavior.            A parent orientation will be held on Friday, October 24, at 6:30 PM, followed by the workshop for adults and children on Saturday, October 25, from 9:00 AM-1:00 PM. Kristie Wessel's Visitation and Funeral

Kristie Wessel's visitation will be held at Barkes, Weaver, and Glick funeral home (West Hill location) on Tuesday, September 30th from 2:00-8:00PM and Wednesday, October 1st from 2:00-8:00PM at the same location. There will be an additional hour of visitation on Thursday, October 2nd from 9:30-10:30AM before the 10:30AM funeral at St. John's White Creek.

OPERATION UKRAINE, headquartered in Columbus, Mississippi, is gathering winter clothing to help more than 300,000 homeless people of the Ukraine face life in the cold northern country.  They have requested 6 or more semi trailer loads of winter clothing.  Clothing items needed are men's, women's, and children's winter coats and sweaters, caps, scarves, gloves, pants, long-sleeved shirts, shoes and boots, socks, blankets, and quilts.  (No summer clothes, please)  Items may be bought to the Orphan Grain Train Warehouse at Azalia.  Persons may call the warehouse at 812-579-6884 for more information.  A collection box is in the front hall of school to receive items.  Please have your winter items in by this Friday, October 3.

September 14 Weekly News

SUNDAY SCHOOL AND BIBLE CLASS will begin TODAY after worship.  In preparation to celebrate our 175th anniversary in 2015, the Adult Bible Class will have a 7-week DVD course on the history of the Missouri Synod.  Come learn about our Lutheran heritage and commitment to being a Christ-centered and Bible-based denomination.  Join us in marveling at the courage of our forefathers and the abundant grace that God has given to our Synod!

 

SMORGASBORD/BAZAAR:  Our Annual Smorgasbord/Bazaar is coming up this Saturday evening, beginning at 4:30 PM.  Workers are still needed for Saturday morning, afternoon, and evening, and the following donations are still needed: 8 salads, 8 desserts, 2-10 lbs. of potatoes, peeled and cut up, 2 large cans of green beans, 4 gallons of sweet corn, and some tomatoes.  Don't forget that the "Second Time Around" table will again be featured at the Bazaar for good used items (no clothes, please), so keep that in mind when cleaning out those closets and drawers!
