June 23 Weekly News


MANY THANKS TO Pastor Phil Meadows for leading us in worship this morning.  Pastor Cook and family will be returning home Wednesday.

 

THANKS BE TO GOD that Jeff Vickous, who has been stationed in Kuwait, has arrived back in the United States and will be coming home around the first week of July.  Please stop by the table in the narthex this morning and sign a Welcome Home/Thank You For Your Service card for him.

 

PORTALS OF PRAYER devotions booklets for July-September are available in the narthex if you didn't get one last Sunday.

 

SUNDAY SCHOOL REGISTRATIONS are now due so that planning can begin for the new Sunday School year.  If you have not yet completed a registration form for your child(ren), please do so today.  Forms are available in the narthex and may be given to James Rockhill or dropped off in the church office.  Registrations may also be completed online at www.whitecreek.org/sunday school.

 

AN LWML INGATHERING will be held at the National LWML Convention June 26 in Pittsburgh including the following items:  all sizes of quilts/blankets, wipes and disposable wipes; babies' kits (receiving blankets, preemie/newborn sleepers, onesies, outfits, and Christian storybook); men's kits (boxers, L-XXXL, t-shirts, L-XXXL, socks, Christian tract or Bible verse); bath kits (towel and washcloth, full size toothpaste and toothbrush, deodorant, bar soap, Christian tract or Bible verse); devotional kits (Bible-NIV or ESV, devotional, journal and pen).  A box is in our narthex to receive items.  Please have all items in by TODAY.  Questions??? FOOD SERVICES DIRECTOR NEEDED:  Lakeview Ministries is in need of a food services coordinator.  This individual is responsible for planning menus and ordering and receiving food for all food service needs at Lakeview Ministries, including summer camp and the retreat seasons.  Being a part of the cooking staff is also desired.  Please contact Lance Onken via email at lconken@gmail.com or call 812-358-1999 if you are interested or would like more information.

THE PREGNANCY CARE CENTER invites you to come to share your spiritual gifts with the many lives that could be impacted by your service.  Volunteers are needed at all six centers located in Bartholomew, Brown, Decatur, Jackson, Jennings, and Shelby Counties and in all aspects of the ministry.  Orientation night will be held this Wednesday, June 19, from 6-9 PM, with the training this Thursday and Friday, June 20-21.  For more information, contact Christy Shaw at 812-378-4114 or via email at christys@affirminglifeonline.org.

COOKIE FELLOWSHIP:  We will have a Cookie Fellowship time after worship today to celebrate the end of Sunday School and Vacation Bible School.   Enjoy a light snack and visit with your church family!   Many thanks to those who donated the cookies!

June 2 Weekly News


TODAY'S ALTAR FLOWERS have been given by Ken & Kyra Bode in thanksgiving and celebration of their 25th wedding anniversary June 10.  May God grant you many more happy years together, Ken & Kyra!

 

VACATION BIBLE SCHOOL, "River of Life-Part 2," will be held this Tuesday-Thursday, June 4-6, from 6:00-8:15 PM each evening.  Helpers are still needed for various capacities - see Pastor Cook or contact Becky in the church office if you would be able to help!

 

OPEN HOUSE:  Camp Lakeview's Annual Open House is TODAY.  Worship will begin at 11:00 AM at the outdoor amphitheater with guest speaker Rev. Brad Hubbard from St. Mark Lutheran, Battle Creek, MI.  If you can't make it to worship, join us for a delicious FREE picnic lunch starting at 12:00, then stick around for afternoon activities such as horseback riding, zip-line, swimming, canoeing, kayaking, and tours of the new Lakeview Village expansion.  What a great time for the whole family!  Everyone is welcome!

May 26 Weekly News


TODAY IS TRINITY SUNDAY, and we observe it by saying the Athanasian Creed during our worship.  "The Athanasian Creed declares that its teaching concerning the Holy Trinity and our Lord's incarnation are "the catholic faith."  In other words, this is what the true Church of all times and all places has confessed.  More than fifteen centuries later, the Church continues to confess this truth, confident that the triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, has given Himself for our salvation."  (LSB, p. 319)

 

TODAY'S ALTAR FLOWERS have been given in thanksgiving and celebration of the 55th wedding anniversary of Delbert & Alberta Tormoehlen on June 1 by their daughters, Joan Peters, Nancy Crockett, and Linda Blanford and their husbands and children.  May God grant them many more happy years together!

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO the graduation service for our 8th graders this Thursday, May 30, at 7:00 PM.  Mrs. Emily Cook will be the guest speaker, and Abigail Anderson, valedictorian, and Nicholas Mensendiek, salutatorian, will be giving their presentations.  A reception and awards presentation will be held in the gym following the service.
