February 5 Weekly News

ASTOR BRANDT’S BIBLE STUDY: “I realize that my years are limited that I will be able to lead a Bible Study. But I plan to continue as long as my physical and mental health permit and as long as it is enjoyable. (The members of the class make it enjoyable for me.) I can’t recollect teaching the Epistle of Galatians, although I may have. I can’t remember what specific Books of the Bible I have taught during the 62 years plus that I have been in the ministry. Galatians has lessons in it pertinent to today. Class will begin this Thursday, February 9, at 10:30 AM in the Fellowship Room. I think that those who have attended in the past mean it when they say they are looking forward to the class.” – Pastor Brandt (Contact Becky in the church office to enroll.)

THE LUTHERAN LAYMEN’S LEAGUE Annual Spring Banquet is scheduled for next Sunday, February 12, at St. Peter’s Lutheran in Columbus. Registration will begin at 5:30 PM, followed by the meal (catered by The Rolling Pin) at 6:00 PM, entertainment, a very short business session, and the keynote speaker, Pastor Ted Krey. The Orphan Grain Train trailer will be on site to receive donations. Child care will be available; call Eric Scheidt (579-5816) for details and to reserve space. Tickets ($12/person) are available from Keith Mensendiek.

CONGRATULATIONS TO Matt & Jenn Riley on the birth of their son, NATHANAEL EDWARD, on Thursday, January 26. Nathanael arrived weighing 10 lbs. 10 ozs. and measuring 21 inches. Everyone is doing fine. God’s blessings to them!

PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION: St. Peter Sprouts Preschool, Waymansville, will hold public registration, beginning February 20. Three-year-old, four-year-old, and pre-k classes will all be offered next year. Amy Sciano, director, is here today to provide more information and answer any questions.
