Bible Study

Bible study- now available on two different days!
Join us as we Study Luther's Large Catechism!

Wednesdays (3:30) at the parsonage (women's group: babysitting provided- you must have children yourself OR have a high tolerance of children and chaos to attend!)
OR
Sundays at 7pm in the fellowship room (no babysitting- men also welcome!)

Beginning August 5 (wednesdays) or August 9 (sun)

Don't be a "lazy paunch" or "presumptuous saint!"

Luther encourages all Christians

"never to presume that they have finished learning this [the parts of the Catechism], or know it well enough in all points, even though they think that they know it ever so well. For though they should know and understand it perfectly (which, however, is impossible in this life), yet there are manifold benefits and fruits still to be obtained, if it be daily read and practised in thought and speech" (from the introduction)

Feed your soul on God's Word and enjoy fellowship with other sisters in Christ!

July 19 Weekly News

MANY THANKS TO Pastor Ben Lorenz for leading us in worship this morning.  Pastor Lorenz will also be leading worship this Wednesday evening at 7 PM.  Pastor Cook and family will return from vacation next Saturday, July 25.  If an emergency arises this week, please contact Becky, and she will make a pastoral contact.

AUGUST CALENDAR AND NEWS ITEMS need to be given to Becky by TOMORROW.

SENIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS will meet at Bob Evans restaurant for supper at 5:30 PM this evening and then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.  Guests are always welcome!

IF YOU HAVE NOT YET RECEIVED your church directory, please contact Beth Burbrink (812-343-2856).

LADIES AID MEMBERS are reminded of their Bible Study and meeting this Wednesday, July 22, at 9:00 AM.  Guests are always welcome!

OUR OLD FASHIONED MISSION FESTIVAL, part of our 175th anniversary celebration, will be held next Sunday, July 26.  Rev. Herbert Schumm, a representative from the Lutheran Heritage Foundation, will be joining us to share exciting mission work that the LHF is doing worldwide.  Our offering next Sunday will go to LHF to support their efforts.  Immediately after worship, everyone is invited to wear your new 175th Anniversary t-shirt and come join us for a picnic lunch, carriage rides, pony rides, cupcake walk, carnival games, old fashion concession stand with candy, cracker jacks, pies, cookies, drinks, and hand-dipped ice cream cones.  Bring your lawn chairs, eat and listen to music, and enjoy the fun and festivities.  All of this at old time prices - just 25 cents will purchase one of these concessions, rides or activity.  All  proceeds will go to missions.  Sign-up sheets are available in the narthex today for persons to volunteer to help and/or donate food.  If you have a canopy tent you could bring, please contact Ken & Kyra Bode (812-371-5910).  Workers are needed next Saturday, July 25, at 9:00 AM for set up and on Sunday during and after the event.  Persons are asked to bring any antiques or artifacts for the display on Saturday after 9:00 AM.

CONGREGATIONAL HISTORY:  In December of 1899, the parsonage burned to the ground.  With the congregation furnishing the materials, a new parsonage was built at a cost of $350.  This parsonage, built in 1900, served the pastors of White Creek for more than 65 years.

THE OPHAN GRAIN TRAIN OPEN HOUSE:  The dedication, ribbon cutting, and Open House for the Orphan Grain Train will be held next Sunday, July 26, with the dedication service beginning at 2:00 PM at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Jonesville.  Parking will be at St. Paul’s, and a shuttle bus will operate between St. Paul and the warehouse site at 209 Jackson St., Jonesville until 5:00 PM.  Those attending will have the opportunity to “work like a volunteer” with hands-on experience in the sorting area and to make a donation of clothing for children from birth-age 5 toward the shipping of the first overseas container to the Latvia orphanages..  Light refreshments will be served, and a silent auction of 12 handmade quilts will be held, with all proceeds to help offset shipping costs.

WEBSITE INFORMATION:  We now have a secure web portal for the multiple reports of our congregation.  On the whitecreek.org website, under the "Resources" tab, there is a line to "Reports."  Once you have clicked on the report that you desire to see, a login page should appear (at least on your first time signing in).  The username is whitecreek, and the password is lcmswcls.

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO attend the ordination and installation of Matt Jung as chaplain and theology teacher at Trinity Lutheran High School next Saturday, July 25, at 10:00 AM at St. Paul, Clifty.  The service will be followed by a meal.  If you plan to attend the meal, please RSVP by calling the St. Paul church office at 812-376-6504 or emailing secretary@stpaulcolumbus.org.

FIRST ANNUAL LAKEVIEW MINISTRIES SPRING TRIATHLON:  Come join us as we close out our summer program with the Sprint Triathlon, 5K, and Children's Fun Run on Labor Day, Monday, September 7.  Attend as a participant, volunteer, or spectator and enjoy a BBQ lunch and many activities, such as a bounce house, dunk tank, yard games, and much more.  Bring the whole family and enjoy a day at camp!  For more information, visit www.camplakeview.com/triathlon.

A TOTAL OF $114.00 has been deposited in the church and school accounts on behalf of the Thrivent Choice Dollars program by the directed dollars of Mark Buss and Matt Taulman.
