September 13 Weekly News


SUNDAY SCHOOL AND BIBLE CLASS will begin today after worship at 10:30 AM.

 

PORTALS OF PRAYER devotional booklets for October-December will be available from the ushers today after worship.

 

YOUTH GROUPS will meet this evening at 7:00 PM.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS are reminded they will meet next Sunday evening, September 20, Bob Evans restaurant at 5:30 PM for supper and then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

 

CHURCH HISTORY:  The first Ladies Aid Bazaar was held on September 12, 1931.  Profit from that Bazaar was $44.77.  The first Smorgasbord was held at noon after church in September of 1981.  Cost of the meal was $5.00 per person.

 

MARK YOUR CALENDARS:  Because of the planned anniversary catered lunch on our celebration Sunday, September 27, Sunday School will begin at 9:00 AM and Worship at 10:15 AM that Sunday.  This will make it more convenient for everyone as we celebrate our 175th Anniversary!

 

SMORGASBORD SIGN-UP SHEETS are available in the narthex today.  Our Annual Smorgasbord/Bazaar will be held next Saturday, September 19, with serving beginning at 4:30 PM.  Please take this opportunity to sign up for food donations and to volunteer to work with your church family.  Questions???  Contact Annette Purdue at (812) 343-9149.

ITEMS NEEDED for our upcoming Bazaar on September 19 include gently used items for the Second Time Around table (NO clothes - please indicate whether you would like the item back if it doesn't sell), handmade crafts, and homemade baked items.  Children and adult books sell very well. The gently used items and crafts may be brought to the gym this Friday, September 18, and baked goods on Saturday morning.  Please price all items.  Questions???  Contact Jean Voelker (812-522-8168).

 

ALL LADIES ARE INVITED TO ATTEND the LWML Fall Rally next Saturday, September 19, at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church, 1/4 mile north of Bean Blossom.  Registration and breakfast begin at 8:30 a.m., followed by the meeting and guest speaker, DCE Sheila Thomack.  The Rally will conclude with a lunch served at noon.

 

TRINITY'S FFA MEMBERS are selling Marian Kay spices now through this Tuesday, September 15.  Anyone interested in making a purchase may contact any Trinity FFA member, Bryan Schroer, FFA sponsor, or the Trinity office at 812-524-8547.

 

CROSSLIFE MINISTRIES AUXILIARY will meet Monday, September 21, at 7 PM at Zion Lutheran Church.  Members from Borchers Lutheran Church will also host the meeting.  Final plans for the Fall Luncheon and Bake Sale to be held Friday, October 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall will be discussed.  All are invited to enjoy the evening of fellowship and become more familiar with the ministry to individuals, marriages, and families throughout Jackson and Bartholomew counties.

 

DEPOSITS OF $30 and $248 have been deposited to the church and school accounts on behalf of the Thrivent Financial's Thrivent Choice program by the directed Choice Dollars of the following:  Kay Clow, Leon & Joan Schlehuser, Brian Schultz, Matt & Michelle Taulman, Louis & Jean Voelker.

 

OPEN HOUSE:  Trinity Lutheran High School invites students and their families to an open house on Saturday, September 26, from 8:00-10:00 AM.  All interested eighth grade students in attendance will receive a $75 voucher that helps cover registration costs at Trinity for the 2016-2017 school year.  Please enter through the gymnasium.
