September 18 Weekly News


WE COME IN PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, according to Your mercy You have blessed us and provided for us in countless ways.  By Your Spirit, equip us to use the blessings of wealth You have given us as a means to worship You and to share the message of the Gospel with our neighbor.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

 

TODAY’S ALTAR FLOWERS have been given by Dalton & Hannah Thompson to the glory of God in celebration of their marriage here last        evening.  May God grant them many happy years together!

 

PORTALS OF PRAYER devotional booklets for October-December will be available from the ushers today after worship.  Large print are also available.

 

JOIN US SUNDAYS after church in the Fellowship Room for the Adult Bible Class and coffee and snacks.  Our current study, “Called to Vote,”      provides congregations and pastors with a tool that is designed to spark a thoughtful biblical conversation about voting in a democracy.  Specifically, it addresses ways in which the Lutheran Confession of Faith may be applied to political situations in which choices must be made.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS will meet for supper this evening at 5:30 p.m. at IHOP restaurant at West Hill.  They will then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

 

A MEN’S BIBLE STUDY on “Fatherhood” will begin next Saturday, September 24, at 9:30 a.m.  For more information and to enroll, contact Phil Burbrink at 812-344-9946.

TRINITY OPEN HOUSE:  Trinity Lutheran High School will hold its first Open House this year next Saturday, September 24, from 8:00-10:00 AM.  Each    student will receive a $75 voucher that will help cover registration costs at  Trinity for the 2017-2018 school year.  Please enter through the gymnasium.

 

DEPOSITS OF $229.00 (church) and $314.00 (school) have been made to those accounts on behalf of Thrivent Financial’s Thrivent Choice program by the directed Choice Dollars of the following:  Kay Clow, Ernie Dettmer, Paul Dettmer, Keith Mensendiek, Harriett Meyer, and Abby Schroer.

 

DISHES FROM THE SMORGASBORD are on the table in the hall by the Fellowship Room.  If you have not yet picked yours up, please do so TODAY.

 

LOST LID:  Jean Meyer is missing the lid to her large heavy duty kettle from the Smorgasbord.  She would really like to get it back so please check and see if you picked it up by mistake.  Contact Jean at 812-343-2361.
