October 2 Weekly News


WE COME IN PRAYER:  O Lord, Heavenly Father, we gather today, thankful that You have placed servants in our lives to share the Good News of the Gospel with us!  Let this same Gospel be lifted up in our worship and in our lives, that by Your Holy Spirit, we may also bring others to faith which saves by the intentional sharing of Your message of salvation with them.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

 

LWML SUNDAY is being observed today.  Mite box offerings are being received and may be placed in the Mite Box in the narthex.  These mite box offerings help support the many missions of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.  Please note today’s insert.

 

A CALL MEETING will be held this evening at 7:00 p.m. The call committee will present three names from which to choose to extend a pastoral call.  Information on the three pastors being considered is being made                available this morning to review.  If members of our congregation wish to vote on this matter, they will need to be a voter or sign the voters’ book. 

 

YOUTH GROUPS will meet this evening at 7:00 p.m.

 

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY on “Fatherhood” will be held next Saturday, October 8, at 10:00 a.m. in the Fellowship Room.  Please join us!

 

THE QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING will be held next Sunday, October 9, after Sunday School and Adult Bible Class.  All confirmed members of our congregation, 18 years and older, are encouraged to attend.

 

2017 OFFICER NOMINATIONS:  A list of offices that will be voted on in January is being passed out today if an effort to encourage more members to become more involved in our ministry here at St. John’s.  Please give this your prayerful consideration as we move forward to do God’s work here at White Creek.

OUR WCLS 7TH AND 8TH GRADERS will be leading our school chapel  service this Friday at 8:00 a.m.  Everyone is invited to join us!

 

TOY DRIVE:  White Creek Lutheran School will be collecting new or    gently used toys (it is requested that individuals not spend over $20), which will be given to the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund and distributed through their organization.  This Toy Drive will run from October 17 – November 11, and   toys may be dropped off in the collection box by the front door in the school hall during those dates.  Help our school bring joy to the kids of Columbus by donating!

 

ST. JOHN’S, SAUERS, Men’s Club will be sponsoring a Soup & Sandwich Supper this evening from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  Carry-outs will be available – everyone is welcome!

 

ST. PAUL, WEGAN, will be sponsoring its annual October supper Sunday, October 9, from 4:00-7:00 p.m.  Carry-outs will be available.  Everyone is invited to share in delicious food and fellowship!

 

“ROOTED” – That is the theme for the 12th Annual Camp Lakeview Dinner Auction.  Join us on Saturday, November 19, at the Clarion Hotel Crystal    Ballroom in Columbus.  Tickets are $60/person or a table of 10 for $500 if   purchased before October 15.  All proceeds benefit God’s work being done at Lakeview Ministries.  For more information, contact Lakeview Ministries at 812-342-4815 or Katie Otte at 812-341-5333.
