October 30 Weekly News

TODAY’S ALTAR FLOWERS have been given by Joshua & Lindsay Hendricks to the glory of God and in celebration of their marriage here at St. John’s yesterday evening.  May God grant them many happy years together!

NOVEMBER CALENDAR AND NEWS will be available from the ushers after today’s worship.

DONATIONS NEEDED:  “Show and Tell” in support of the Lakeview Dinner Auction will be held today after church.  Bring your donation to Sunday School (all ages may participate in their own classrooms) and share why it is important to you/your family.  Other donations of new items, collectables, antiques, goods or services, handicraft items, monetary donations, or even a week at your time-share would be appreciated and may also be left in the box in the narthex or given to Katie Otte.

ADVENT BY CANDLELIGHT:  Hosts are needed for the tables at our upcoming Advent By Candlelight on Sunday, November 27. If you would like to be a table host, please stop by and sign up on the volunteer sheet in the narthex.

MEN’S BIBLE STUDY will meet on Saturday, November 5, at 10 a.m.  Discussion will center on session 4 of the Fatherhood series: Being a Spiritual Leader In the Home.

THE LADIES AID will meet on Wednesday, November 9, at 11:30 a.m. at Stahl’s CafĂ© in Ewing for their Thanksgiving luncheon.  All ladies are invited.  Please let Jean Voelker know by next Sunday, November 6, if you will be able to attend.  Anyone wanting to carpool should meet at church at 11:00 a.m.

VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED to serve on the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation committee to help plan activities for next year’s observance of this milestone anniversary of the Reformation.  If you would like to be involved with this, please contact Janeen Blomenberg or Becky in the church office.

PLEASE NOTE from today’s financial report that we will need to receive offerings of $15,925.28 per Sunday over the next 9 weeks just to equal the total offerings of 2015.  Please give this your prayerful consideration.

“ROOTED” – That is the theme for the 12th Annual Camp Lakeview Dinner Auction.  Join us on Saturday, November 19, at the Clarion       Hotel Crystal Ballroom in Columbus.  Tickets are $65/person or a table of 10 for $600.  All proceeds benefit God’s work being done at Lakeview Ministries.  For more information, contact Lakeview Ministries at 812-342-4815 or Katie Otte at 812-341-5333.

DESSERT DASH:  Camp Lakeview is seeking homemade desserts to auction off during the dessert dash at its annual dinner/auction on November 19.  Desserts need to feed at least 10 people (so it may take 2 pies to serve 10 people).  All donations are much appreciated!  Please contact Dave Vandercar (812-498-4742) if you would like to donate and plan on dropping off your dessert here in our Fellowship Room by noon on November 19.  Thanks so much for your support, and everyone looks forward to your delicious creations!

HARVEST PARTY:  Our Youth will be sponsoring a Harvest Party today from 4:00-7:00 p.m. here in our gym.  Food, games, and prizes will be among the activities for the evening.  Tickets will be sold at the door - wear your costume as there will be judging and prizes awarded.  Parents are asked to accompany their children.  Everyone invited!
