January 29 Weekly News

PASTOR WHITMORE continues the Bible study on the Gospel according to Saint John during the Sunday School hour.  All are invited – bring a family member, bring a friend, bring a neighbor!  Come and learn what God has to say to us through His servant, Saint John.

THE NEW BOARDS (Bd. of Elders, Bd. of Evangelism, Bd. of Stewardship) will meet in the Fellowship Room for a brief meeting directly following worship today to discuss scheduling meetings for the year.

THE SCHOOL FUNDING COMMITTEE will be conducting one more Focus Group Meeting this evening at 5:30 p.m. to provide members with information regarding funding White Creek Lutheran School’s program, so there is still time to attend!  Please sign up on the sheet in the narthex.

FEBRUARY CALENDAR AND NEWS will be available from the ushers after today’s worship.

2016 FINANCIAL STATEMENTS are available. Please see Ernie Dettmer (general fund) and Phil Burbrink (building fund).

YOUTH GROUPS will meet next Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m.

“MANY THANKS TO everyone for their prayers, cards, visits, food (the meal was delicious!) and many acts of kindness extended to us at the death of our beloved mother, grandmother, and sister.  A special thanks to Pastor Whitmore for his comforting words and to those who helped with the funeral lunch.  We are truly blessed to have the support of so many friends!” – The Family of Betty McCrory

FINANCIAL PEACE:  A Financial Peace University class will be hosted at White Creek beginning Saturday, February 11, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Room.  This is a 9-week class, which will teach you to dump debt, save for retirement and children’s college expenses, and to manage money God’s way. If you are interested in joining, you may sign up online at www.daveramsey.com/fpu/classes.  We are establishing sponsors from the congregation to help cover some of the cost of the class.  If you would like to sign up for the classes with the help of a sponsor, please meet with Phil or Crista Burbrink (812-216-1982).

REFORMATION 500-BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY:  2017 is an historic year as we commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.  A committee is being formed to promote events in our county related to this celebration as well as plan and coordinate Germany serving as host country for the Ethnic Expo coming up October 13-14 of this year.  An organizational meeting will be held this afternoon at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul, Clifty.  The committee is open to all interested persons.  If you have any questions, please contact Colin Scheidt at cscheidt05@comcast.net or 812-378-2655.

COIN COLLECTION:  A total of $126.70 was collected at the coin collection last Sunday for Clarity (formerly the Pregnancy Care Center) in thanksgiving to God for the precious gift of life.

ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, Waymansville, will be sponsoring a Soup & Sandwich Supper and Euchre Party this evening.  The supper will begin at 5:00 p.m. ($5/person) with Euchre following at 6:30 p.m. (also $5/person).  All proceeds will go to support mission projects of St. Peter.  Everyone invited.
