December 25 Weekly News


OUR WORSHIP SCHEDULE:  Please note that there will be no Wednesday evening worship this week because of the worship opportunity New Year’s Eve, which will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include Holy Communion.

 

JANUARY CALENDAR/NEWS will be available from the ushers after today’s worship.

 

PASTOR WHITMORE & FAMILY will be arriving this Wednesday, December 28. Help will be needed at some point that day to help them move into the parsonage.  If you are available to help, please sign the sheet in the narthex today or call/text Bryan Schroer at 812-343-5352, and he will contact you with a time.

 

GIFT CARDS:  In order to ease the burden of setting up their new home, a gift card shower will be held for the Whitmore family.  Purchase your gift card and give it to any of the elders, Bryan Schroer, or Becky in the church office by next Sunday, January 1.

 

PLEASE KEEP IN MIND our commitment of $16/communicant member for Trinity Lutheran High School.

 

BIDS FOR the church and school custodian positions for 2017 need to be submitted to Bryan Schroer by TODAY.

 

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet this Wednesday, December 28, at 6:00 p.m.

 

THE SCHOOL FUNDING COMMITTEE has set up Focus Group Meetings to provide members with information regarding funding White Creek Lutheran School’s program.  Please check the sheets in the narthex today for the various times offered and sign up for a time to attend that fits in your schedule.

 

THE ANNUAL VOTER’S MEETING will be held on Sunday, January 22, at 1:30 p.m.  This is several weeks later than usual, due to Pastor Whitmore’s installation, scheduled for Sunday, January 15.

FAMILY FOUNDATIONS FOR THE FUTURE, a mini-conference, will be held at Zion Lutheran Church, on Saturday, February 4, from 9:00-11:00 a.m.  Come and join in this great opportunity to gather resources that can help families build a strong foundation for the future.  Childcare will be available, first come, first serve.  Cost is $5/adult, $2/child, and registration forms are available in our church office or online at jprobst@zionseymour.org and need to be turned in to the Zion office by Friday, January 13.

 

THE CHURCH OFFICE HOURS will be flexible during the Christmas break this week and through January 4.  Please call before coming to make sure someone is in.

December 18 Weekly News


WE COME IN PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, in the midst of our          preparations to once again celebrate the reception of Your Son into our world, prepare our hearts to also receive Him in this Divine Service.  In the name of Your Son Who saves us from our sins.  Amen.

 

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE:  An extra practice for the  Children’s Christmas Eve program will be held this Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 6:30-8:00 p.m.  Children in grades 1-8 should attend.  Pizza will be provided, followed by the practice.  Please try to attend.

 

OUR WORSHIP SCHEDULE:  Please note that there will be no Wednesday evening worship this week and no worship on Wednesday, Dec. 28, because of worship opportunities Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.  Our family worship will begin at 4:30 p.m. Christmas Eve.  Also on Christmas Eve, pre-service music will begin at 6:00 p.m.,        followed by the Children’s Program at 6:30 p.m.  Next Sunday our Christmas Day worship will begin at 8:45 a.m. and will include Holy Communion.  There will be no Sunday School or Adult Bible Class next Sunday or New Year’s Day.  New Year’s Eve worship will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include Holy Communion.

 

THE CHURCH FOUNDATION will meet today after worship.

 

THE JUNIOR HIGH YOUTH will not meet this evening.

 

OUR YOUTH will be delivering Christmas cards locally today for 25 cents/card.  Cards need to be in the container in the narthex after       worship.

PARSONAGE PAINTING will begin this afternoon at 1:30 p.m. and continue tomorrow and Tuesday at 1:30.  Please bring brushes, rollers, and drop cloths.  Paint pans and roller covers will be provided.  If you have a step-stool or ladder you like to use, please bring that also.  If you are available to help at other times, please contact Larry Claycamp to make arrangements to get in the parsonage.

December 11 Weekly News


WE COME IN PRAYER:  Lord, we open our hearts to You this day.  Come to us and bless us with firm faith, that we might have no doubts about You and Your redeeming love.  Help us to go forth in confidence to witness of Your great love to others.  In Jesus’ holy name.  Amen.

 

WE REJOICE TODAY in the baptisms of Lilly Perry and Max Perry, children of Claire Perry.  Lilly’s sponsors are Derek Wessel, Emily Kain, and Tracey Engelau, and Max’s are Derek Wessel, Travis Whaley, and Jeanne Lienhoop.  God’s blessings to all!

 

WE ALSO REJOICE TODAY in the baptisms after worship of           Joshua Hendricks and Brogan Hendricks, husband and step-son of Lindsay (Ross) Hendricks. Brogan’s sponsor is his aunt, Amy Ross. God’s blessings to them!

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE:  Children in grades 1-8 are asked to please meet in church for practice at the start of Sunday School today.  PreK and kindergarten children will meet in their classroom as usual.

 

THIRD MIDWEEK ADVENT WORSHIP will be held this Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.  Pastor Adrian Krebs will be preaching on “Two Families” as our Family Life series continues. The youth will be serving pulled pork bbq sandwiches for supper before worship, beginning at 5:45 p.m.

 

ALL SINGERS ARE INVITED to join in the Christmas caroling THIS AFTERNOON.  Meet at church at 3:00 p.m., and after caroling enjoy fellowship, soup, and cookies!

 

CHRISTMAS EVE PRE-SERVICE MUSIC:  Persons who would like to share their musical talents by singing or playing an instrument are encouraged to participate in our Christmas Eve pre-service music at 6:15 p.m.  Please contact Jessica Morphew (812-343-9110) or Lorna Meyer (812-350-5768) or send an email to                                               sundayschool@whitecreek.org.

December 4 Weekly News


WE COME IN PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, grant that this day we may heed the call of John to prepare the way for Your Son and receive Him into our hearts, that through the hearing of Your Word, repentance, and faith in Your promises, we may be called Your children.  Amen.

 

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE:  Children in grades 1-8 are asked to please meet in church for practice at the start of Sunday School today.  PreK and kindergarten children will meet in their classroom as usual.

 

SECOND MIDWEEK ADVENT WORSHIP will be held this                 Wednesday evening at 7:00 p.m.  Pastor Keinath will be preaching on “Our Way” as our Family Life series continues. The youth will be serving a spaghetti, salad, and garlic bread supper before worship,                  beginning at 5:45 p.m.

 

PASTOR KEINATH is out of town through Wednesday afternoon.  Pastor Jung and Pastor Bauman are available in case emergency           pastoral care is needed.

 

THE DECEMBER VOTERS’ MEETING will be held today after the Sunday School hour.  Approving the slate of nominees for 2017 church offices and receiving a financial update will be the business at hand.
