October 16 Weekly News


WE COME IN PRAYER: Heavenly Father, we gather in Your house for worship today.  Prepare us for this worship hour by cleansing us from all our sins, so that we might give full attention to You and Your Word.  Help us to receive Your Word into our hearts and to put it into practice for all situations and circumstances in our lives.  Through Jesus Christ our Lord we pray.  Amen.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS will meet at the Waymansville Fish Fry this evening at 5:00 p.m. for supper and will then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

 

YOUTH GROUPS will meet this evening at 7:00 p.m.

 

BOARD OF ELDERS will meet this Wednesday evening after worship (8:00 p.m.)

 

BOARD OF STEWARDSHIP will meet next Sunday evening, October 23, at 5:30 p.m.

 

FINANCIAL UPDATE:  Our 2016 offerings have even fallen behind our 2015 offerings.  Just to match the offerings received in 2015, we will need to have an average per Sunday collection of $14,578.68 for the remaining 11 weeks of 2016, or a total of $160,365.49.  If we are going to meet our voted-on and approved 2016 budget of $573,334.32, we will need an average weekly offering of $17,088.03 for the remaining 11 weeks of 2016, or a total of $187,968.32.

 

FISH FRY:  All are invited to the Fish Fry at St. Peter, Waymansville, this evening from 4:00-7:00 p.m., sponsored by their Adult Fellowship.  Supplemental funds will be provided by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.

 

TOY DRIVE:  White Creek Lutheran School will be collecting new or gently used toys (it is requested that individuals not spend over $20), which will be given to the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund and distributed through their organization.  This Toy Drive will run from tomorrow, October 17, – Friday, November 11, and toys may be dropped off in the collection box by the front door in the school hall during those dates.  Help our school bring joy to the kids of Columbus by donating!

 

“ROOTED” – That is the theme for the 12th Annual Camp Lakeview Dinner Auction.  Join us on Saturday, November 19, at the Clarion Hotel Crystal Ballroom in Columbus.  Tickets are $60/person or a table of 10 for $500 if purchased before October 15.  All proceeds benefit God’s work being done at Lakeview Ministries.  For more information, contact Lakeview Ministries at 812-342-4815 or Katie Otte at 812-341-5333.

 

DONATIONS NEEDED:  If order to make the Camp Lakeview Dinner Auction a success, your help is needed!  If you have new items, collectables, antiques, goods or services, handicraft items, monetary donations, or even a week at your time-share that you would like to donate to the auction, please contact Katie Otte at 812-371-5333.  All donations are tax-deductible, and all proceeds benefit God’s work being done at Lakeview Ministries.
