January 22 Weekly News


BEGINNING TODAY, during the Sunday School hour, Pastor Whitmore will be leading a Bible study on the Gospel according to Saint John.  All are invited – bring a family member, bring a friend, bring a neighbor!  Come and learn what God has to say to us through His servant, Saint John.

 

COIN COLLECTION:  We are having a coin collection today for Clarity (formerly the Pregnancy Care Center) in thanksgiving to God for the precious gift of life.  Persons may contribute a coin (any amount) for each year of life which God has blessed you (or make any donation).  A container is available in the narthex to receive coins.

 

THE ANNUAL VOTER’S MEETING will be held this afternoon at 1:30 p.m.  Election of officers for 2017 will be among the business at hand.  All confirmed members of our congregation are encouraged to attend.

 

THE SCHOOL FUNDING COMMITTEE is still conducting Focus Group Meetings to provide members with information regarding funding White Creek Lutheran School’s program.  There is still time for you to attend!  Please check the sheets in the narthex today for the various times still to be offered and sign up for a time to attend that fits in your schedule. 

 

 

THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS:  Those individuals who have Thrivent Choice Dollars to designate are asked to stop at the table in the narthex today to sign your forms to designate those funds.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE will meet this evening, at 5:30 p.m. at Bob Evans restaurant for supper and will then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

 

FEBRUARY CALENDAR AND NEWS ITEMS and items for the quarterly newsletter need to be submitted to Becky by tomorrow.

 

2016 FINANCIAL STATEMENTS are available today.  Please see Ernie Dettmer (general fund) and Phil Burbrink (building fund).

 

THIS WEEK we will be celebrating National Lutheran Schools Week.  Our students will be participating in various special activities and attending chapel services at Trinity Lutheran High School and Immanuel Lutheran.  Inserts designed by our WCLS students are included with today’s bulletin in thanksgiving to God and our congregation for the blessing of Christian education!

FINANCIAL PEACE:  A Financial Peace University class will be hosted at White Creek beginning Saturday, February 11, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Room.  This is a 9-week class, which will teach you to dump debt, save for retirement and children’s college expenses, and to manage money God’s way. If you are interested in joining, you may sign up online at www.daveramsey.com/fpu/classes.  We are establishing sponsors from the congregation to help cover some of the cost of the class.  If you would like to sign up for the classes with the help of a sponsor, please meet with Phil or Crista Burbrink (812-216-1982).

REFORMATION 500-BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY:  2017 is an historic year as we commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.  A committee is being formed to promote events in our county related to this celebration as well as plan and coordinate Germany serving as host country for the Ethnic Expo coming up October 13-14 of this year.  An organizational meeting will be held next Sunday, January 29, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul, Clifty.  The committee is open to all interested persons.  If you have any questions, please contact Colin Scheidt at cscheidt05@comcast.net or 812-378-2655.

ST. PETER LUTHERAN CHURCH, Waymansville, will be sponsoring a Soup & Sandwich Supper and Euchre Party next Sunday, January 29.  The supper will begin at 5:00 p.m. ($5/person) with Euchre following at 6:30 p.m. (also $5/person).  All proceeds will go to support mission projects of St. Peter.  Everyone invited.
