CONGREGATIONAL HISTORY:  In 1860 the congregation outgrew the log church, and plans were drawn for a larger church.  The new church, our current church, had the following dimensions:  40' wide, 45' tall, 72' long, with a 72' tower.  There was a debate as to whether the new church should be wood or brick.  Contractor Griese of Indianapolis assured the congregation that brick would be better, and the additional cost would be negligible.
