PORTALS OF PRAYER devotional booklets for October-December are available in the narthex.

OUR 175TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION SUNDAY will be held next Sunday, September 27.  Because of the planned anniversary catered lunch, Sunday School/Bible Class will begin at 9:00 AM and Worship at 10:15 AM to make it more convenient for everyone as we celebrate!  Pastor Loren Boettcher, pastor at St. John's from 1968-1976, will be our guest speaker, and the Men's Chorus will provide special music.  Come and give thanks to God for His many blessings and continued faithfulness to us here at White Creek!

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30, will be Pastor Cook's last worship service with us as he has accepted the call to St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Michigan and will be leaving the first weekend of October.  We pray for God's blessings to Pastor and his family as they move and begin this new ministry.

CHURCH HISTORY:  On Sunday, July 20, 1930, the 90th anniversary of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, White Creek, Jonesville, Indiana, (that was our address back then) was celebrated.  There was a morning service in German (sermon by Rev. M.C. Baade), an afternoon service in English (sermon by Rev. G. Baumgart), and an evening service in English (sermon by Prof. H.A. Klein).  Special music by the Concordia Quartette was part of the first two services.

OCTOBER CALENDAR AND NEWS ITEMS need to be given to Becky by TOMORROW.

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet this Wednesday evening, September 23, at 5:30 PM.

CROSSLIFE MINISTRIES AUXILIARY will meet tomorrow evening, Monday, September 21, at 7 PM at Zion Lutheran Church.  Members from Borchers Lutheran Church will also host the meeting.  Final plans for the Fall Luncheon and Bake Sale to be held Friday, October 16, at Immanuel Lutheran Church Fellowship Hall will be discussed.  All are invited to enjoy the evening of fellowship and become more familiar with the ministry to individuals, marriages, and families throughout Jackson and Bartholomew counties.

EYEGLASSES NEEDED:  MOST Ministries will be taking a Mission Trip to Nicaragua next June.  The people there have a great need for eyeglasses - adult, children, non-prescription sunglasses, and over-the-counter reading glasses.  While there, the teams will not only see that the glasses you donate are given to needy people, but they will also provide local missionaries the opportunity to share the Gospel of Jesus with the people while they are being fitted for their glasses. Glasses cases would also be appreciated.  Jean Voelker has put a box in the narthex for this collection and will see that the glasses get to someone going on this trip.  Your donations will bring sight!

OPEN HOUSE:  Trinity Lutheran High School invites students and their families to an open house next Saturday, September 26, from 8:00-10:00 AM.  All interested eighth grade students in attendance will receive a $75 voucher that helps cover registration costs at Trinity for the 2016-2017 school year.  Please enter through the gymnasium.

THE CAMP LAKEVIEW'S WOMEN'S RETREAT will be held October 2-4 and is a time for renewal through Christian fellowship, God's Word, and relaxation.  The weekend will feature keynote speaker Robin Madson, recreation, campfire devotions, crafts, a banquet, optional massages or manicures, and much, much more.  Visit www.camplakeview.com or call the camp office at 812-342-4815 for more information and to register.
