July 3 Weekly News


WE COME IN PRAYER: Lord of all nations, we thank and praise You that You created us for freedom, that You re-created us for freedom in Your Holy Gospel.  Keep us ever mindful of our responsibilities and privileges as citizens of a free nation and as responsible and privileged members of Your kingdom of grace.  Hear us, Heavenly Father, and send Your Holy Spirit to guide both us and our leaders for the sake of Jesus, Your Son and our Lord.  Amen.

 

CALL PROCESS UPDATE:  Names of pastoral candidates to consider for a call have been submitted by members of our congregation. These names have been forwarded to Pastor Nathan Janssen, our Circuit Visitor. Pastor Janssen will forward them to the District Office to receive biographical information and ministry strengths and weaknesses.  When this information is received from the Districts these ministers serve, our call committee will review all information and provide the congregation with their recommendation.

 

CANDIDATE JAMES ROCKHILL and his family will be leaving soon to serve his congregations in Nebraska.  We will wish him Farewell and Godspeed during next Sunday’s worship and bid the Rockhill family God’s blessings at a reception after the service.

 

THE CHURCH OFFICE will be closed tomorrow in observance of the July 4th holiday.

 

THE CHURCH COUNCIL will meet this Wednesday evening after worship.            (8:00 p.m.).  All members of the council are urged to attend.

THE QUARTERLY VOTERS’ MEETING will be held after worship on Sunday, July 17.  All confirmed members of our congregation, 18 years and older, are encouraged to attend.

 

ANYONE INTERESTED in sharing their musical talents at the upcoming Church Picnic on August 21 by singing or playing an instrument are asked to contact Greg Hercamp at 812-525-7255.

 

ENGRAVED BRICKS for the walk and/or Memory Garden may be ordered through Labor Day.  Cost is $100/brick.  Contact Ernie &    Donna Dettmer or Larry & Janice  Claycamp if interested in placing an   order.  Check with Becky in the office if you would like to see designs available that can be engraved on the bricks.

 

ADDITIONAL PEA GRAVEL is needed for our playground.  If you would like to help with this monetarily or by use of equipment for hauling, please contact Bryan Schroer.

 

THE TRINITY TREASURES RESALE SHOP in Columbus is looking for a Thrift Shop Manager!  The Thrift Shop Manager is a volunteer position who would oversee all aspects of the Trinity Treasures Resale Shop, which is a non-for-profit organization that provides a third source of income for Trinity Lutheran High School.  If you are interested in this volunteer opportunity or would be willing to share in this responsibility with other individuals, please contact Crista Burbrink at 812-216-1982.  The organizing Board will meet again this Tuesday, July 5, at 7:00 p.m. at St. Paul, Clifty.

 

TRINITY LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL seeks a full-time resource teacher for the 2016-2017 school year.  Responsibilities include tutoring, coordinating classroom and testing accommodations, maintaining progress, monitoring records, developing intervention strategies alongside faculty, and communicating with parents and faculty on student progress.  Secondary education teacher license required in any field, with experience or background in special education preferred.  Please bring a cover letter and resume to the Trinity   office, 7120 N. 875 E., Seymour, Monday-Thursday, 7 a.m.-3 p.m. or email Principal Ben Stellwagen at bstellwagen@trinitycougars.org.

 

ANNIVERSARY DINNER:  The Anniversary Dinner of the CrossLife Ministries Auxiliary will be held Monday, July 18, beginning at 6:30 p.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown.  All are invited to enjoy the evening of fellowship and become more familiar with the ministry to individuals, marriages, and families throughout Jackson and Bartholomew counties.  Please bring a covered dish to share.  Drinks and anniversary cake will be provided.
