Pastor Brandt's Funeral Arrangements

Pastor Brandt's funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John's White Creek Lutheran Church with Pastor Joshua Cook officiating. Calling will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home and from 8:30 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the church cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's White Creek Lutheran School or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.

Pastor Eldon Brandt was called to his heavenly home this evening around 9pm.

Just this morning Pastor Cook gave him communion and they read the resurrection story together. He seemed to be feeling fine then.

SUNDAY SCHOOL will be having an Easter party next Sunday, Easter Sunday, March 31.  Donations of individually wrapped candy, trinkets, etc. are needed - monetary donations also appreciated.  Persons may leave donations in the church office.  Help to assemble goodie bags for the celebration is also needed next Saturday - see Matt Riley or call him this week at 812-343-8553 if you would like to help with this.

 

PHIL'S FRIENDS DRIVE:  Please choose an egg from the Easter basket in the narthex.  Inside will be a slip of paper naming an item you can donate to Phil's Friends for their care packages to cancer patients. Items may be put into the tote in the narthex by Sunday, April 7. Janet Morey will be packing the items (this will eliminate shipping costs).

 

APRIL CALENDAR AND NEWS ITEMS need to be submitted to Becky by TUESDAY.

 

ITEMS FOR NEXT SUNDAY'S BULLETIN need to be submitted to Becky by Tuesday this week.  The office will be closed Friday in observance of Good Friday.

 

LADIES AID MEMBERS are reminded of their workday and meeting this Wednesday, beginning at 9:00 AM.

 

STEERING COMMITTEE AND CHURCH COUNCIL MEMBERS are asked to meet for a special meeting this Wednesday, March 27, at 6:30 PM in the Fellowship Room.  Your attendance is very important.

 

WCLS STUDENTS are reminded that there WILL BE school this Thursday, March 28, (make-up day for the snow day on March 6).  The teachers are planning special learning activities, including a Seder meal, where students can learn about the Passover meal that Christ shared with His disciples - His "last supper."  (Bussing will be provided that day.)  WCLS WILL NOT have school Good Friday.

 

THE YOGA EXERCISE CLASSES will be continued on Monday nights during the month of April.  (No classes for the rest of March.)  Lezlie Ward will be the instructor for these again.   A second class of Yogalates (mix of Yoga and Pilates) will begin on Saturday, April 6.  Judy Purcell will lead this class.  Call or text Janet Morey (350-6238) for more information and to enroll.  Cost will be $10 for a drop-in class, $32 for one class for the 4 week series, and $48 for both classes for the 4 week series. 

 

BUTTER BRAID SALE:  Help support the English Expedition group of Trinity Lutheran High School and sign up for a tasty treat at the same time!  Students and adults planning on traveling to England in 2014 will be selling Butter Braids in April.  Each pastry costs $12 and makes a yummy dessert or breakfast for an entire family.  Be sure to look for the Trinity travelers selling these or call the Trinity office (812-524-8547) to place your order.

 

FROM OUR TREASURER:  We are moving into the season when tuition funds for the school are fulfilled by churches and individuals.  This means the congregation will have to start with its support.  We need about 45 to 50 thousand dollars per month to meet those obligations.  Please keep these numbers in your thoughts and prayers as we move into the summer months. - Mark Buss

 

IMMANUEL LUTHERAN SCHOOL 7th grade students are hosting a 5K Walk/Run on Saturday, April 6, at 9 AM.  Registration forms are available at www.immanuelschool.org.
