January 12 Weekly News


THE ANNUAL VOTERS' MEETING will be held this afternoon at 1:30 PM in the Fellowship Room.  The election of officers for 2014 will be among the business at hand. All confirmed members of our congregation are encouraged to attend.

 

GUILD MEMBERS are reminded of their meeting this evening at 6:00 PM in the Fellowship Room.  Baptismal banners will be assembled.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE will meet at 5:30 PM for supper next Sunday evening, January 19, and then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

 

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet this Wednesday evening, January 15, after the worship service (7:35 PM).

 

PENNY COLLECTION:  The Sanctity of Human Life Sunday will be observed next Sunday, January 19.  We will have a Penny Collection for the Pregnancy Care Center to give thanks and praise to God for the many years He has given to us by giving a penny (or more) for each year of our life.  A basket will be in the narthex to receive these offerings.

 

DEPOSITS OF $6.00 and $93.00 have been made to the church and school accounts on behalf of the Thrivent Financial for Lutherans' Thrivent Choice program by the directed Choice Dollars of the following:  Mark Buss, Mike & Kathy Sanders, and Matthew Taulman.

 

TRINITY LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL is seeking candidates for a part-time teaching position for the 2014-2015 school year in the area of Spanish.  If interested, please drop off a resume in the Trinity school office by January 31.

OPEN HOUSE:  White Creek Lutheran School will hold its' annual Open House on Friday, February 7, from 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM. (Snow date will be Monday, February 10.) Interested persons are invited to sit in and observe classes.  Teachers will be available between instruction times to answer any questions.

 

TRINITY OPEN HOUSE: Trinity Lutheran High School invites students and their families to an open house this Tuesday, January 14, from 4:00-6:00 PM.  All eighth grade students will be entered in a drawing to win a Trinity t-shirt.  Interested eighth grade students will also receive a $75 voucher that covers half of the registration costs at Trinity for the 2014-2015 school year.  Please enter through the commons.

 

CHORAL CONCERT:  St. Paul, Clifty, will sponsor a Choral Concert this Tuesday, January 14, at 7:00 PM featuring the Millikin University Collegiate Chorale and the Columbus North High School Concert Choir.  Everyone is cordially invited - admission is free.

 

EXERCISE CLASSES:  Due to the weather, many of last week's exercise classes could not be held.  The new 9-week session of exercise classes will begin this week and go up to spring break.  Exercising can help with those few extra holiday pounds, depression and stress.  Joining group fitness classes can be a lot of fun and the social group can help you start or stay on track with a healthy life style.  For more information, pick up a flyer in the narthex and/or call Janet Morey at 812-350-6238.
