March 23 Weekly News


THE GROUNDBREAKING for our school expansion will be held on the south side of the school immediately after today's worship.  Light refreshments will be served.

 

PORTALS OF PRAYER devotional booklets for April-June will be available from the ushers after today's worship.

 

OUR FOURTH MIDWEEK Lenten worship with Holy Communion will be held this Wednesday at 7:00 PM. There will be no supper served before the service, as our school cafeteria will be undergoing remodeling.

 

APRIL CALENDAR AND NEWS ITEMS need to be given to Becky by TOMORROW.

 

LADIES AID MEMBERS are reminded of their workday/meeting this Wednesday, March 26, beginning at 9:00 AM (Bible study/meeting, 11:00 AM).

 

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet this Wednesday evening, March 26, after the worship service (7:30 PM).

 

THE QUARTERLY VOTERS' MEETING will be held on Sunday, April 6, at 7:00 PM.  All confirmed members of our congregation, 18 years and older, are encouraged to attend.

 

CAR SHOW:  Mallory Meyer will be having a Car/Truck/Tractor Show and Silent Auction next Saturday, March 29, in the church parking lot as her senior project.   The show will begin at 10:00 AM, with judging and silent auction ending at 1:00 PM.  It is open to hot rods, trucks, tractors, etc. with a $10 entry fee.  Chili, hot dogs, and drinks will be available for purchase.  All proceeds will go to Kristie Wessel and her family as she continues her battle against Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.  A Be The Match drive will also take place as well in order to raise awareness for blood cancers and the need for stem cell/bone marrow donors.  In case of inclement weather, the show will be held on Saturday, April 5.  Mallory will be in the narthex after worship today to sign up anyone who would like to donate food/help for this event.  Please bring donations by 9:00 AM      on Saturday morning.

 

ASSET AUCTION:  Trinity Lutheran High School will hold an Asset Auction for the general public next Saturday, March 29, at the Betty Shepman farm on highway 50 in Seymour across from Applebee’s.  The auction will begin at 9:00 AM with auctioneer Fred Pollert, of Pollert’s, Inc., and food will be served throughout the day.  The Asset Auction effort is called “Renew Their Strength” with all proceeds raised at the auction being applied toward the debt on the original school loan for Trinity.  Join in the fun and find that special treasure you’ve been looking for.  There will be some special desserts too!

 

MEN'S RENDEZVOUS RETREAT:  Calling all MEN: Come join us for our 2nd Annual Men's Rendezvous Retreat at Lakeview Villages next weekend, March 28-30.  Pastor Dan Lepley will be the keynote speaker and will be discussing his book, On Our Origins.  Other activities will include mini-golf and fishing tournaments, climbing tower and zip line, guest presenters that will host sectionals on fly fishing, firearm safety, smoking meat, and much more.  Go to www.camplakeview.com and click on the link for the Men's Rendezvous for more information and to print off a registration brochure.  Call Dave Vandercar at 812-498-4742 with any questions.

 

CHURCH/SCHOOL LAWNMOWING:  Many thanks to Tim Hoene for donating his equipment and time to care for our church and school lawns these past years.  A bid has been received for lawn mowing for the upcoming season.  If anyone else from our congregation would be interested in submitting a bid, please give that to Doyce Eckelman before Wednesday, April 2.

 

A BALANCED LIFE, an eight-week program for body, soul, and spirit, featuring active adults workout with Janet Morey, health tips from Amberly Hoffman, and devotions with Emily Cook, will begin on Saturday morning, March 29.  Contact Janet (812-350-6238), Amberly (812-988-0515), or Emily (812-447-8693) for more information.  Cost is $40, which includes exercise classes and supplies.  Please register in the church office by this Wednesday, March 26, or by email to amhoffman07@hotmail.com.
