July 20 Weekly News


MANY THANKS TO Pastor Luna for leading us in worship today while Pastor Cook is on vacation.  Should an emergency arise this week, please contact Becky in the church office, 342-3516  (or at home, 342-6808).  Pastor Ben Lorenz will be leading our 7:00 PM worship this Wednesday evening.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS are reminded to meet this evening at Bob Evans restaurant at 5:30 PM for supper and then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

 

AUGUST CALENDAR AND NEWS ITEMS need to be given to Becky by TOMORROW.

 

LADIES AID MEMBERS will meet this Wednesday, July 23, at 9:00 AM for their Bible Study and meeting and will then work on special crafts and projects.  Mite Box offerings will be received.  As always, guests are invited to join them!

 

WORKDAY to clean up the church/school grounds will be held on Saturday, August 2, at 8:00 AM.  Trimming, weeding, painting, and various other tasks need to be done.   Please mark your calendars!

 

DEDICATION OF OUR school expansion and rededication of our school staff will be held on Sunday, August 3.  Persons will have an opportunity to view the new addition and enjoy light refreshments as we give thanks to God for this improvement to our school and ask for His blessing as another new school year begins.

 

THE CHURCH PICNIC will be held on Sunday, August 10, after worship.  Volunteers are needed to help with food and activities.  Let Pastor Cook or Becky know if you would be willing to help.  Also

needed are donations of hot dogs and pies.  Let Becky know if you would like to contribute.  The picnic will be followed by an organ recital with our new pipe organ.  Ed Bruenjes will be playing various musical selections.

 

AUXILIARY MEETING:  Due to fair week for Jackson County, the CrossLife Ministries Auxiliary will meet on Monday, July 28, at 6:30 PM at Emanuel Lutheran Church, Dudleytown.  All are invited to enjoy the evening of fellowship and become more familiar with the ministry to individuals, marriages, and families throughout Jackson and Bartholomew counties.  The guest speaker will be a representative from Community Diner.  Plans for the Fall Luncheon and Bake Sale will be discussed.  Please bring a covered dish to share.  Drinks and anniversary cake will be provided.

 

GERMAN HERITAGE TOUR:  You are invited to join hosts, Pastor Arthur Schwenk and Pastor Doug & Michelle Bauman on a 12-day tour of Germany on June 22-July 3, 2015.  Sites include Frankfurt, Worms, Rothenburg, Eisleben, Leipzing, Wittenberg, Berlin, the Rhine area, and Loehne.  An informational meeting about this tour will be held on Sunday, August 3, at 6:30 PM at St. Paul, Clifty, Church.  Persons may also contact Pastor Schwenk at schwenk.a@hotmail.com or Pastor Bauman at pastor@stpaulcolumbus,org.  (Pastor Cook will be hosting with Pastor Schwenk in 2018 on this tour.)

 

REDS/METS BASEBALL GAME: Tickets for the September 7 baseball game between the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Mets at Cincinnati are still available for $22.50/person.  See the sign-up sheet on the bulletin board in the school hall.  Persons who order tickets are asked to pay for them immediately (checks payable to White Creek Lutheran School) as this has been charged to our school’s credit card.
