September 7 Weekly News

SUNDAY SCHOOL AND BIBLE CLASS will begin next Sunday, September 14, after worship.  In preparation to celebrate our 175th anniversary in 2015, the Adult Bible Class will have a 7-week DVD course on the history of the Missouri Synod.  Come learn about our Lutheran heritage and commitment to being a Christ-centered and Bible-based denomination.  Join us in marveling at the courage of our forefathers and the abundant grace that God has given to our Synod!

THE 175TH ANNIVERSARY COMMITTEE will meet tomorrow evening at 7 PM.

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet this Wednesday evening after worship (7:30 PM).

PASTOR COOK will begin an adult Confirmation class this Wednesday evening after worship (7:30).  Anyone interested in learning and/or reviewing Luther's small catechism as a member or potential member of our church is welcome to attend.  This will be about a six-week course.  Please contact the church office if interested in attending.

SMORGASBORD/BAZAAR:  Our Annual Smorgasbord/Bazaar is less than 2 weeks away!  If you have not yet signed up to help and/or donate, see Annette Purdue.  A "Second Time Around" table will again be featured at the Bazaar for good used items (no clothes, please), so keep that in mind when cleaning out those closets and drawers!

WELCOME TO Roger, Colleen, Chase, Brayden, Cody, Alex, and Miley Hughes as they have joined us in church membership.  Offer them your hand in friendship and welcome them into our White Creek family!

"DEAR PASTOR COOK AND ST. JOHN'S CONGREGATION:  Thank you very much for the privilege to join you in an historic afternoon of hymn singing to celebrate the installation and restoration of your pipe organ.  I enjoy participating in such history, and I thank you for the opportunity to do so on Sunday, August 10." - Sincerely, John W. Matthews, Jr., Director of Music and Organist, Grace Lutheran Church, Columbus
