January 25 Weekly News

WE REJOICE WITH Mark & Ashley Meyer as they bring their daughter, NORA LEE MEYER, to be baptized this morning.  Nora's sponsors are her aunt, Cara Eckelman, and cousin, Angie Jaquemai.  God's blessings to you, Nora!

FEBRUARY CALENDAR AND NEWS will be available from the ushers after today's worship.

2014 OFFERING AND BUILDING FUND STATEMENTS  are available in the narthex today from Chris Newkirk and Phil Burbrink.

THRIVENT CHOICE:  Please see Mrs. Buss or Keith Mensendiek in the narthex today to sign forms to direct Thrivent Choice Dollars.  Forms are available for church, school, Foundation, and Camp Lakeview.

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet this Wednesday evening after the worship service (7:30 PM).

CONGREGATIONAL HISTORY:  In late fall of 1840, St. John's was formally organized.  Eighty acres of land to be used for church purposes was purchased.  This land was located near the county line on the present road leading to Seymour.  Since this property was not centrally located, it was sold.

ANNIVERSARY CHRISTMAS ORNAMENTS are still available for sale.  Contact Becky in the church office.  Cost is $12 each.

THIS WEEK is being observed as National Lutheran Schools Week.  Our students have written thank-you notes to the congregation today in thanksgiving and appreciation for the blessings of being able to attend our Lutheran school.  Please continue to keep our students, faculty, and staff in your prayers.

OPEN HOUSE:  White Creek Lutheran School will hold its annual open house on Friday, February 6, with snow date of Monday, February 9.  Open House hours will be 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM.  Persons interested in our school are invited to sit in on classes during the course of the day.  Teachers will be available to answer questions in between instruction times.  Persons planning on being at school for lunch, are asked to please contact the school a few days in advance to make a reservation.

CAMP LAKEVIEW:  It's time to start thinking about summer camp!  On February 2, Lakeview ministries will begin registering campers (K-12) for its 2015 summer season.  Don't let your children miss the adventure, joy, and wonder that a week at a Christian camp can bring.  To get more information, pick up a summer brochure in the narthex, visit the camp's website at www.camplakeview.com, or call the camp office at 812-342-4815.  Registrations must be postmarked on or after February 2.  No phone reservations will be accepted until two weeks after registration opens.  See you at camp!

A SOUP SUPPER AND EUCHRE PARTY will be held at St. Peter, Waymansville, this evening.  The supper will begin at 5:00 PM ($5/person) and Euchre will follow at 6:30 PM ($5/person).  This is being sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans, with all proceeds going to support Freeman & Susan Rohlfing, missionaries serving in the Silesia region of the Czech Republic.  Everyone invited.

MARK YOUR CALENDARS:  The LLL Spring Banquet will be held on Sunday, March 8, at 5:30 PM at the Immanuel Social Room, Seymour.  Tickets ($15.00) are available in our church office.

THE PREGNANCY CARE CENTER is running extremely short of infant formula.  Gerber Good Start Gentle and Gerber Good Start Soothe are what most clients ask for.  Any donations may be brought to our church office and will be taken to the PCC.
