February 14 Weekly News


TODAY’S ALTAR FLOWERS have been given by Mark & Elly Rutan to the glory of God in thanksgiving for their 30th wedding anniversary today.  May God grant them many more happy years together!

 

THE LENTEN SEASON continues this Wednesday evening at 7 PM.  Pastor Greg DeVore from Calvary, Bedford, will preach on “The Trial: A Place of God’s Will.”  The Senior High Youth will be serving supper before the service, beginning at 5:45 PM.

 

PARENTS OF 8TH GRADE CONFIRMANDS are asked to meet with Mrs. Buss TODAY after worship for information regarding questioning and confirmation.  Please meet in the front pews of church.

 

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet this Wednesday evening, February 17, at 5:30 PM.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS will meet at Bob Evans Restaurant next Sunday evening, February 21, at 5:30 PM and will then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

 

YOUTH MEMBERS are reminded they will meet next Sunday evening, February 21, at 7:00 PM.

 

THE LADIES AID will meet Wednesday, February 24, at 9:00 AM for Bible study and their monthly meeting.

 

WCLS ENROLLMENT:  White Creek Lutheran School is now accepting enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year.  If you know of any new families who might be interested in enrollment information, please contact Mrs. Buss.  Enrollment forms are available in the office.

 

WHITE CREEK LUTHERAN SCHOOL is seeking a teacher for the coming school year for grades 6-8 departmentalized in the areas of science and social studies.  Appropriate licensing is required.  Please send resumes to the school office by March 4.

 

OUR SOUND SYSTEM here in church will be upgraded on February 22-23.

 

THE ALUMINUM CAN DRIVE continues yet today.  A trailer is parked on the church/school grounds to receive items.  Thanks for your support for this WCA project.

 

MANY THANKS TO those who have designated their Thrivent Choice Dollars to our church, school, and Foundation.  Deposits of $1,200.00 (church), $5456.00 (school), and $955 (Foundation) have been made on behalf of Thrivent Financial’s Thrivent Choice program.  Names of those who directed their Choice Dollars have been posted on the bulletin board in the front hall of school.

 

ZION LUTHERAN PRESCHOOL is now receiving registrations for 3- and 4-year-old children for the 2016-2017 school year.  Registration night will be held Tuesday, February 23, beginning at 6:30 PM.  Visit their website www..zionschoolseymour.org or call the school office at 812-522-5911 for more information.

 

TRINITY LUTHERAN HIGH SCHOOL invites students and their families to its final open house next Sunday, February 21, from 2:00-4:00 PM during the boys’ LIT tourney.  All interested 8th grade students will receive a $75 voucher that covers half of the registration costs at Trinity for the 2016-2017 school year.  Please enter through the commons.

 

POSITION AVAILABLE:  Trinity Lutheran High School is seeking candidates for a full-time development director to start on August 1, 2016.  This new position would be under the guidance of Trinity’s current development director, Michael Bridges, who is moving to part-time.  For a job description, please go to the news and notes section at www.trinitycougars.org.  If interested, please bring a resume to the Trinity office.  Interviews will be conducted the week of March 7.  Call 812-524-8547 with any questions.

 

LLL SPRING BANQUET:  Mark your calendars for the Spring Banquet of the Lutheran Laymen’s League, which will be held here at White Creek on Sunday, March 6.  Registration will begin at 5:30 PM, followed by the meal, entertainment, elections, and the guest speaker.  Tickets are $15/person and are available in our church office or from Keith Mensendiek (812-343-3288).  The meal is being served by White Creek Lutheran School with proceeds benefiting the school’s scholarship fund.
