March 20 Weekly News

HOLY WEEK WORSHIP SCHEDULE:  Maundy Thursday worship w/Holy Communion, 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jung; Good Friday worship, 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Keinath;  Easter Sunrise w/Holy Communion , 7:30 a.m. with Pastor Jung followed by the Easter breakfast and Sunday School Easter fun;  Easter Celebration w/Holy Communion also with Pastor Jung at 10:00 a.m.  (No Sunday School or adult Bible classes.)

 

PORTALS OF PRAYER devotional booklets for April – June will be          available from the ushers after today’s worship.  Large print copies are also available.

 

APRIL CALENDAR AND NEWS ITEMS need to be given to Becky by       TOMORROW.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS will meet this evening at 5:30 p.m. at Bob Evans restaurant for supper and will then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

 

YOUTH GROUPS will meet this evening at 7:00 p.m.

LADIES AID MEMBERS will meet this Wednesday, March 23, at 9:00 a.m.  Wanda Meyer will lead the Bible study, and Mite Box offerings will be collected.

 

BIBLE STUDY:  Jean Jack’s Bible study on the Book of Esther will begin on Wednesday, March 30.  This study will be held for 8 Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 p.m.  The Book of Esther tells the tale of the young, beautiful Jewish girl, who by God’s gracious providence became queen of Persia.  Come and share in this study which shows how God inspires faith in His gracious promises and enables His children to do extraordinary things.  Sign up with Becky in the     office and purchase your study guide ($9) to prepare lessons 1 and 2 for the first session.

 

MEMORIALS to the glory of God and in loving memory of Ezekiel Henry Decker, infant son of Chad & Lisbeth Decker, may be given for the landscaping on the new church addition at St. John’s, Sauers, 1108 S.  Co.Rd. 460 E., Seymour  47274.  Please include St. John’s landscaping on the memo line of your check.  (Memorials may also be given to Becky to be forwarded to Sauers.)

 

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO attend the remaining IU Lenten Organ Recital this Wednesday, March 23, at 12:00 noon at the North Christian Church, 850 Tipton Lane, Columbus, organist, Elizabeth Clark.  Admission is free. 

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO Tyler & Leah Ross on the birth of their daughter, MAXINE KAY ROSS, this past Wednesday.  Maxine arrived weighing 7 1/2 lbs.  Everyone is doing fine – God’s blessings to them!

 

WCLS ENROLLMENT:  White Creek Lutheran School is now accepting enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year.  If you know of any new families who might be interested in enrollment information, please contact Mrs. Buss.  Enrollment forms are available in the office.

 

MISSING PITCHERS:  All of the plastic pitchers from the Fellowship Room are missing.  If you have borrowed them or taken them home to wash, please return as soon as possible.

 

THE PREGNANCY CARE CENTER will be offering a Ministry Orientation Night on Monday, March 28, from 6-9 p.pm. for anyone interested in volunteering within the PCC ministry.  Staff will present the history and vision of the PCC.  Training will then continue on April 4, 5, 7, 11, and 12 from 6-9 p.m. at the Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus.  For more information, contact Jane Littmann at 1-866-510-5067 or JaneL@affirminglifeonline.org.

 

CONFLICTS OF THE HEART: INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP: Pastor Keinath will be leading this workshop on Saturday, April 2, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Columbus.  Pastor Keinath will guide participants in looking at popular trends in society that have become “idols” we serve and how our conflicts reveal those idols.  Please RSVP by Easter Sunday to the Grace church office (812-372-4859) or office@gracecolumbus.org.

LAKEVIEW MINISTRIES MEN’S GATHERING:  Men of God, come and join in a weekend filled with fellowship, recreation, and faith building at this year’s Men’s Gathering.  The retreat on April 8-10 will feature Pastor Ben Haupt speaking on the topic “Confessing Christ & Living His Mission in the Early Church & Today.”  The focus will be on how we can learn to live in this post Christian society by studying the church as it existed in the pre-Christian era.  Fishing and mini-golf tourneys, a hog roast and deep-fry party, and the new, exciting game of Archery Tag are among the activities offered.  For more info, contact Dave Vandercar at dvandercar@ gmail.com.

 

JOIN THE TLHS ART CLUB for their 2nd Annual Art in the Afternoon event on Sunday, April 3.  Numerous art activities will be offered throughout the afternoon.  Choose to attend some or all of the following events:  1:00 p.m. – soup dinner.  Ceramic bowls made by the Art Club students will be offered for $15 with your soup included, or $5 for just the soup.  Tickets for the dinner will go on sale the second week of March. 2:00 p.m. - Paint Your Own Canvas event.  Please call the Trinity office 812-524-8547 to reserve your spot.  There are only 30 spots available for this – cost is $25.   Persons may also order an adult coloring book containing pictures hand-drawn by the current art students.  A limited number of copies will be available that evening, and a copy will be available for viewing.  Cost for that coloring book is $15.  Check 2nd Annual Art in the Afternoon on Facebook for updates for this event.

 

THE CHURCH OFFICE HOURS will be flexible yet this week during spring break.  Please call before you come to make sure someone is in.  WCLS        students are reminded that we WILL HAVE SCHOOL this Thursday, March 24, to make up the snow day we had in February.
