March 6 Weekly News


MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICES continue this Wednesday evening at 7 PM.  Pastor Joseph Barlau from Redeemer, Seymour, will preach on “The Upper Room: A Place of Service.”  The Junior High Youth will be serving supper        before the service, beginning at 5:45 PM.

 

PLEASE CONTACT Karen Schlehuser (812-342-6140) by next Sunday, March 13, if you would like to place Easter lilies/spring flowers on the altar for Easter.

 

YOUTH GROUPS will meet this evening at 7 PM.

 

THE SCHOOL FUNDING MEETING will be held tomorrow evening,            Monday, March 7, at 6:30 PM.

 

THE BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet this Thursday, March 10, at 5:30 PM.

 

PALM PROCESSION:  We will be having a palm procession at both          services on Palm Sunday.  There will be no Sunday School that day, but all         children who attend either (or both) of those services are asked to come to the school to get palms and line up for the procession.  Children may sit with their parents after the procession.

 

BIBLE STUDY:  Jean Jack’s Bible study on the Book of Esther will begin on Wednesday, March 30.  This study will be held for 8 Wednesdays from 5:00-6:00 PM.  The Book of Esther tells the tale of the young, beautiful Jewish girl, who by God’s gracious providence became queen of Persia.  Come and share in this study which shows how God inspires faith in His gracious promises and enables His children to do extraordinary things.  Sign up with Becky in the office and purchase your study guide ($9) to prepare lessons 1 and 2 for the first session. 

 

WCLS ENROLLMENT:  White Creek Lutheran School is now accepting enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year.  If you know of any new families who might be interested in enrollment information, please contact Mrs. Buss.  Enrollment forms are available in the office.

 

BROOM DONATIONS:  The LWML is filling scrub buckets for the Orphan Grain Train to be used in disaster response.  Sturdy push brooms and regular brooms are needed.  If you would like to donate, brooms may be brought to the front hall of school.  Jean Voelker will take care of all donations. 

 

EVERYONE IS INVITED TO attend the 2016 IU Lenten Organ Recital       Series.  All recitals begin at 12:00 noon, and admission is free.  The dates are March 9, Asbury Methodist Church, 1751 27th St., Columbus, organist, Ed Bruenjes;  March 16, St. Paul, Clifty, 6045 E. State St., Columbus, organist, Robert Welch; March 23, North Christian Church, 850 Tipton Lane, Columbus, organist, Elizabeth Clark.


 
THIS THURSDAY EVENING, March 10, the 100 musicians of the                 Symphonic Band and Golden Voice Choir of Valley Lutheran High School, Saginaw, MI, under the direction of Paul Eschmann and Lindsay Mueller, will present a Lenten worship concert beginning at 7:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour.  This is the second concert of a 5-day, 6-concert tour through Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan.  Everyone is invited to hear their important message of Christ’s love for us.
 
THE PREGNANCY CARE CENTER will be offering a Ministry Orientation Night on Monday, March 28, from 6-9 PM for anyone interested in volunteering within the PCC ministry.  Staff will present the history and vision of the PCC, an overview of each area of ministry to become involved with, and then a section on post-modern thinking and how the culture affects those ministered to.  A light snack will be provided.  Training will then continue on April 4, 5, 7, 11, and 12 from 6-9 PM at the Memorial Baptist Church in Columbus.  For more information, contact Jane Littmann at 1-866-510-5067 or JaneL@affirminglifeonline.org.

JOIN THE TLHS ART CLUB for their 2nd Annual Art in the Afternoon event on Sunday, April 3.  Numerous art activities will be offered throughout the afternoon.  Choose to attend some or all of the following events:  3:00 PM – Paint Your Own Canvas event.  Please call the Trinity office 812-524-8547 to reserve your spot.  There are only 30 spots available for this – cost is $25;  5:00 PM – there will be s soup dinner.  Ceramic bowls made by the Art Club students will be offered for $15 with your soup included, or $5 for just the soup.  Tickets for the dinner will go on sale the second week of March.  Persons may also order an adult coloring book containing pictures hand-drawn by the current art students.  A limited number of copies will be available that evening.  Cost for that coloring book is $15.  Check 2nd Annual Art in the Afternoon on Facebook for updates for this event.
