October 23 Weekly News


WE COME IN PRAYER: Heavenly Father, as we gather to receive Your grace and forgiveness this day, we pray that our worship and offering may be pleasing before Your sight for the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ.  In His name we pray.  Amen.

 

A SPECIAL SERVICE is being planned for next Sunday in observance of the Reformation.  The 500th anniversary of the Reformation will be observed in 2017.

 

PASTOR KEINATH AND PASTOR JUNG will be attending the Indiana District Fall Pastors’ Conference in Indianapolis this week,   Monday-Wednesday.  If an emergency arises, please contact Becky, and she will relay any messages.


BOARD OF STEWARDSHIP will meet this evening at 5:30 p.m.

 

NOVEMBER CALENDAR AND NEWS ITEMS need to be given to Becky by TOMORROW.

 

LADIES AID will meet this Wednesday, October 26, at 9:00 a.m. for Bible study and their monthly meeting.  Guests are always welcome!

 

BOARD OF EDUCATION will meet this Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

 

OUR WCLS 5TH GRADERS will be leading our school chapel service this Friday, October 28, at 8:00 a.m.  Everyone is invited to join us!

 

THE SCHOOL FUNDING COMMITTEE (large group) will meet on Sunday evening, November 13, 6:00-7:30 p.m. to receive information and financial planning that has been developed to date.

 

TOY DRIVE:  White Creek Lutheran School is collecting new or gently used toys (it is requested that individuals not spend over $20), which will be given to the Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund and       distributed through their organization.  This Toy Drive is running now through Friday, November 11, and toys may be dropped off in the collection box by the front door in the school hall during those dates.  Help our school bring joy to the kids of Columbus by donating!

 

“ROOTED” – That is the theme for the 12th Annual Camp Lakeview Dinner Auction.  Join us on Saturday, November 19, at the Clarion Hotel Crystal Ballroom in Columbus.  Tickets are $65/person or a table of 10 for $600.  All proceeds benefit God’s work being done at Lakeview Ministries.  For more information, contact Lakeview Ministries at 812-342-4815 or Katie Otte at 812-341-5333.

 

DONATIONS NEEDED:  “Show and Tell” in support of the Lakeview Dinner Auction will be held next Sunday, October 30, after church.  Bring your donation to Sunday School (all ages may participate in their own classrooms) and share why it is important to them.  Some ideas include handmade items, recreational gear, gift certificates, favorite gadgets, etc.  Be creative!  Donations may also be left in the box in the narthex or given to Katie Otte.

ON NOVEMBER 13TH at 2:00 p.m., the Trinity Lutheran Spain Trip participants will be hosting an afternoon of creative fun at the Seymour Center for the Arts.  Learn how to design and paing a Snowman Winter Wonderland on your choice of two wineglasses, water goblets, or beer pilsners (great Christmas gifts!).  Registration is $30 and is due by this Wednesday, October 26.  Contact Trinity at 812-524-8547 or Lindsey Trah at ltrah@trinitycougars.org to reserve your spot.

 

THE CONGREGATION IS INVITED to the wedding of Lindsay Ross and Joshua Hendricks this coming Saturday, October 29, at 4:30 p.m. here at St. John’s and to the reception following at the Family Arts Building at the Bartholomew County Fairgrounds.

 

EVERYONE IS INVITED to the 15th Annual Hog Roast at White Creek United Methodist Church this coming Saturday, October 29.  Serving will be from 4:30-6:30 p.m.  Carry-out meals will be available upon request.  A free-will offering will be received for the meal.  Handmade crafts, baked goods, church cookbooks, and church centennial ornaments will be available for purchase.

 

HARVEST PARTY:  Our Youth will be sponsoring a Harvest Party next Sunday, October 30, from 4:00-7:00 p.m. here in our gym.  Food, games, and prizes will be among the activities for the evening.  Tickets will be sold at the door - wear your costume as there will be judging and prizes awarded.  Parents are asked to accompany their children.  Everyone invited!
