January 22 Weekly News


BEGINNING TODAY, during the Sunday School hour, Pastor Whitmore will be leading a Bible study on the Gospel according to Saint John.  All are invited – bring a family member, bring a friend, bring a neighbor!  Come and learn what God has to say to us through His servant, Saint John.

 

COIN COLLECTION:  We are having a coin collection today for Clarity (formerly the Pregnancy Care Center) in thanksgiving to God for the precious gift of life.  Persons may contribute a coin (any amount) for each year of life which God has blessed you (or make any donation).  A container is available in the narthex to receive coins.

 

THE ANNUAL VOTER’S MEETING will be held this afternoon at 1:30 p.m.  Election of officers for 2017 will be among the business at hand.  All confirmed members of our congregation are encouraged to attend.

 

THE SCHOOL FUNDING COMMITTEE is still conducting Focus Group Meetings to provide members with information regarding funding White Creek Lutheran School’s program.  There is still time for you to attend!  Please check the sheets in the narthex today for the various times still to be offered and sign up for a time to attend that fits in your schedule. 

 

 

THRIVENT CHOICE DOLLARS:  Those individuals who have Thrivent Choice Dollars to designate are asked to stop at the table in the narthex today to sign your forms to designate those funds.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE will meet this evening, at 5:30 p.m. at Bob Evans restaurant for supper and will then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

FINANCIAL PEACE:  A Financial Peace University class will be hosted at White Creek beginning Saturday, February 11, at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Room.  This is a 9-week class, which will teach you to dump debt, save for retirement and children’s college expenses, and to manage money God’s way. REFORMATION 500-BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY:  2017 is an historic year as we commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.  A committee is being formed to promote events in our county related to this celebration as well as plan and coordinate Germany serving as host country for the Ethnic Expo coming up October 13-14 of this year.  An organizational meeting will be held next Sunday, January 29, at 3:00 p.m. at St. Paul, Clifty.  The committee is open to all interested persons.  If you have any questions, please contact Colin Scheidt at cscheidt05@comcast.net or 812-378-2655.

January 15 Weekly News

PASTOR WHITMORE’S INSTALLATION will be held this afternoon at 4:00 p.m.  A welcoming reception and pitch-in meal will follow the service. Members are asked to bring a large side dish (to help accommodate guests attending) to share for the meal.  Meat, drinks, and table service will be provided.

 

THE SCHOOL FUNDING COMMITTEE has set up Focus Group Meetings starting today and going on throughout January to provide members with information regarding funding White Creek Lutheran School’s program.  If you have not yet signed up or attended, please check the sheets in the narthex today for the various times offered and sign up for a time to attend that fits in your schedule. 

 

SANCTITY OF HUMAN LIFE SUNDAY is being observed today to celebrate God’s gift of life, commemorate the many lives lost to abortion, and commit to protect human life at every stage.  Please note the insert included in today’s bulletin.

 

COIN COLLECTION:  As we celebrate the value and dignity of every     human life, everyone in the congregation is encouraged to give a special    offering toward Clarity Pregnancy Services.  Next Sunday, please give 1 coin (any amount) for each year of your life in thanksgiving for the life God has blessed you with.  A basket will be in the narthex to receive this collection. These funds will be given to Clarity, so together, we can share the truth of life with women and men facing unplanned pregnancies here in our community.

MOPS MEETING:  The next MOPS meeting will be held this Friday, January 13, in Zion Lutheran Church’s fellowship hall from 8:45-10:45 a.m.  Mom-of-four Leslie Rudzinski will be leading those in attendance in the topics of discipline, self-control, and the fruits of the Spirit.  Carin Spalla will be teaching a 15-minute-at-home stretching routine.  Please RSVP to mops@zionseymour.org so that plans can be made for adequate childcare.

CHILDCARE WORKERS NEEDED: The MOPS group that meets at Zion Lutheran Church, Seymour, is looking for two additional childcare workers to assist during their monthly meetings.  This would be a paid position for a 10 hours/month commitment.  Interested persons should contact Katie Schwipps via text or phone call at 812-525-8318 or email through the mops@zionseymour.org email.

December 18 Weekly News


WE COME IN PRAYER:  Heavenly Father, in the midst of our          preparations to once again celebrate the reception of Your Son into our world, prepare our hearts to also receive Him in this Divine Service.  In the name of Your Son Who saves us from our sins.  Amen.

 

CHRISTMAS PROGRAM PRACTICE:  An extra practice for the  Children’s Christmas Eve program will be held this Wednesday, Dec. 21, from 6:30-8:00 p.m.  Children in grades 1-8 should attend.  Pizza will be provided, followed by the practice.  Please try to attend.

 

OUR WORSHIP SCHEDULE:  Please note that there will be no Wednesday evening worship this week and no worship on Wednesday, Dec. 28, because of worship opportunities Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.  Our family worship will begin at 4:30 p.m. Christmas Eve.  Also on Christmas Eve, pre-service music will begin at 6:00 p.m.,        followed by the Children’s Program at 6:30 p.m.  Next Sunday our Christmas Day worship will begin at 8:45 a.m. and will include Holy Communion.  There will be no Sunday School or Adult Bible Class next Sunday or New Year’s Day.  New Year’s Eve worship will begin at 7:00 p.m. and will include Holy Communion.

 

THE CHURCH FOUNDATION will meet today after worship.

 

THE JUNIOR HIGH YOUTH will not meet this evening.

 

OUR YOUTH will be delivering Christmas cards locally today for 25 cents/card.  Cards need to be in the container in the narthex after       worship.
