March 13 Weekly News


OUR LAST MIDWEEK LENTEN SERVICE will be held this Wednesday evening at 7 p.m.  Pastor Paul Neuman, Chaplain at Lutheran Community Home, will preach on “The Courtyard: A Place of Renewal.”  There will be no supper served before the service.

 

A BRIEF THRIVENT MEETING will be held today after worship.  All Thrivent members are invited to attend.  Please meet in the front rows of church.

 

PLEASE CONTACT Karen Schlehuser (812-342-6140) TODAY if you would like to place Easter lilies/spring flowers on the altar for Easter.

 

WE WILL HAVE two services next Sunday – 8:45 a.m. and 10:30 a.m.  Pastor Bauman from St. Paul, Clifty, will be leading both of the worship services.  There will be no Sunday School or Adult Bible Classes.

 

PALM PROCESSION:  We will be having a palm procession at both services next Sunday, Palm Sunday.  All children who attend either (or both) of those services are asked to come to the school to get palms and line up for the procession.  Children may sit with their parents after the procession.

 

OUR 8TH GRADE STUDENTS will be examined next Saturday evening at 6 p.m. here in church in preparation for Confirmation next Sunday at the 10:30 a.m. worship.  Everyone is invited to come and support these young people as they profess their faith.

WCLS ENROLLMENT:  White Creek Lutheran School is now accepting enrollment for the 2016-2017 school year.  If you know of any new families who might be interested in enrollment information, please contact Mrs. Buss.  Enrollment forms are available in the office.

 

MANY THANKS TO all for the broom donations for the LWML ingathering for the scrub buckets put together for the Orphan Grain Train.

 

MISSING PITCHERS:  All of the plastic pitchers from the Fellowship Room are missing.  If you have borrowed them or taken them home to wash, please return as soon as possible.

CONFLICTS OF THE HEART: INTERACTIVE WORKSHOP: Pastor Keinath will be leading this workshop on Saturday, April 2, from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, Columbus.  Pastor Keinath will guide participants in looking at popular trends in society that have become “idols” we serve and how our conflicts reveal those idols.  Please RSVP by Easter Sunday to the Grace church office (812-372-4859) or office@gracecolumbus.org.

March 6 Weekly News

THIS THURSDAY EVENING, March 10, the 100 musicians of the                 Symphonic Band and Golden Voice Choir of Valley Lutheran High School, Saginaw, MI, under the direction of Paul Eschmann and Lindsay Mueller, will present a Lenten worship concert beginning at 7:00 PM at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Seymour.  This is the second concert of a 5-day, 6-concert tour through Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, and Michigan.  Everyone is invited to hear their important message of Christ’s love for us.

JOIN THE TLHS ART CLUB for their 2nd Annual Art in the Afternoon event on Sunday, April 3.  Numerous art activities will be offered throughout the afternoon.  Choose to attend some or all of the following events:  3:00 PM – Paint Your Own Canvas event.  Please call the Trinity office 812-524-8547 to reserve your spot.  There are only 30 spots available for this – cost is $25;  5:00 PM – there will be s soup dinner.  Ceramic bowls made by the Art Club students will be offered for $15 with your soup included, or $5 for just the soup.  Tickets for the dinner will go on sale the second week of March.  Persons may also order an adult coloring book containing pictures hand-drawn by the current art students.  A limited number of copies will be available that evening.  Cost for that coloring book is $15.  Check 2nd Annual Art in the Afternoon on Facebook for updates for this event.

February 28 Weekly News

THE LENTEN SEASON continues this Wednesday evening at 7 PM.  Pastor Jordan McKinley from Trinity, Vallonia, will preach on “The Betrayal: A Place of Eternal Love.”  The Senior High and Junior High Youths will be serving a JayC fried chicken supper before the service, beginning at 5:45 PM.

 

SENIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS will meet at Bob Evans Restaurant this evening at 5:30 PM and will then return to the Fellowship Room for their monthly meeting and socializing.

 

YOUTH MEMBERS are reminded they will meet this evening, at 7:00 PM.

February 7 Weekly News


PASTOR KEINATH will be in Michigan serving counseling needs this week, Thursday through next Sunday.  If pastoral care is needed or an emergency arises, please contact Pastor Jung (812-764-8664).

 

YOUTH MEMBERS are reminded they will meet this evening at 7:00 PM.

 

THE NEXT SCHOOL FUNDING MEETING will be held tomorrow evening, Monday, February 8, at 6:30 PM.  This meeting is for the large group so they can hear the report of the sub-committee members who have been meeting the last couple of months.

 

THE SEASON OF LENT will begin with Ash Wednesday this week Wednesday, February 10.  Pastor Jung will be leading worship with Holy Communion beginning at 7:00 PM.  There will be no supper served before worship this Wednesday.  Please note the insert included with today’s bulletin.
